BMW starts 6th gen power battery project with 10 billion RMB investment

As BMW Brilliance enters its next 20 years, the BMW Group announced that it will begin production of a revolutionary pure electric BMW new generation model in Shenyang starting in 2026; at the same time, the BMW sixth-generation power battery project will start construction, with a total investment of 10 billion yuan, planned area of 240,000 square meters, which is five times the existing power battery production area, and will create 2,000 new jobs. In addition, the expansion project of BMW Shenyang R&D Center Phase II has been officially put into use, further strengthening the localization development and verification capabilities of new energy vehicles, preparing for the arrival of the new generation.

BMW Brilliance will continue to play an important role in the full value chain of electrification with the BMW Group. In terms of research and development, the BMW Group has established the largest research and innovation network outside Germany in China, distributed in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenyang, and Nanjing, and has in-depth cooperation with many Chinese technology companies and core electric vehicle enterprises. It has jointly established an innovation incubation base in Shanghai to build and create a new ecology for future travel.
