In April, car retail sales in China reached ¥362 billion, up 38% YoY

【PhoneAuto News】On May 16th, according to data compiled by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers from the National Bureau of Statistics, the overall production of China’s automobile industry remained stable from January to April 2023. Among them, in April 2023, the value added of China’s automobile manufacturing industry increased by 44.6% year-on-year. In the first four months of this year, the value added of China’s automobile manufacturing industry increased by 11.8% year-on-year, which was 8.2 percentage points higher than the scale of the above-scale industry in the same period.

At the same time, in April 2023, the retail sales of China’s automobile products reached 362 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 38.0%, accounting for 10.4% of the total retail sales of consumer goods in the whole society. In the first four months of 2023, China’s retail sales of automobile products reached 1.4114 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.4%, accounting for 9.4% of the total retail sales of consumer goods in the whole society. In addition, China’s automobile manufacturing fixed asset investment maintained growth this year. In the first four months of 2023, China’s automobile manufacturing fixed asset investment increased by 18.5% year-on-year, which was higher than the national fixed asset investment by 13.8 percentage points and the manufacturing fixed asset investment by 12.1 percentage points.

According to data released earlier by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in April 2023, domestic automobile production and sales reached 2.133 million and 2.159 million respectively, a year-on-year increase of 76.8% and 82.7% respectively. In the first four months of 2023, domestic automobile production and sales reached 8.355 million and 8.235 million respectively, a year-on-year increase of 8.6% and 7.1% respectively. Among them, China’s production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 640,000 and 636,000 respectively, a year-on-year increase of 110%, and the market share has reached 29.5%. In addition, thanks to the rapid development of the automobile industry, China has successfully surpassed Japan, a traditional automobile powerhouse, and has become the world’s largest automobile export country in the first quarter of 2023.
