Tesla announces recall of a total of 271 imported Model S and Model X vehicles

Tesla recalls 271 imported Model S and Model X vehicles

【Phoneauto News】Recently, Phoneauto noticed that Tesla (Beijing) Co., Ltd. has filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the “Regulations on the Recall of Defective Automotive Products” and the “Implementation Measures for the Regulations on the Recall of Defective Automotive Products”. They have decided to recall the following vehicles starting from today: a total of 234 imported Model S and Model X electric vehicles produced between February 5th and May 16th, 2023; a total of 37 imported Model S and Model X electric vehicles produced between January 17th and July 11th, 2023.

The announcement shows that the reason for Tesla recalling the 234 imported Model S and Model X vehicles is that during the production process or after-sales maintenance, the front seat belts and pretensioners were disassembled, and during reinstallation, they may not have been connected to the anchor points according to the design specifications. If a collision occurs, the seat belts may not function as designed, posing a safety hazard. Tesla (Beijing) Co., Ltd. will provide free inspections of the front seat belts and pretensioner anchor points for the vehicles within the recall scope. If it is found that the connection does not meet the design specifications, they will be reinstalled according to the specifications, and if necessary, the seat belt assemblies will be replaced free of charge to eliminate the safety hazard.

In addition, the reason for recalling the other 37 imported Model S and Model X vehicles is that the installation of the forward-facing cameras on some vehicles does not meet the pitch angle design requirements, resulting in the malfunction of some active safety functions and the inability to provide corresponding reminders to the driver, posing a safety hazard. Tesla (Beijing) Co., Ltd. will provide free inspections of the pitch angle of the forward-facing cameras for the vehicles within the recall scope. Adjustments will be made for those that exceed the design range to meet the design requirements and eliminate the safety hazard.

Tesla stated that before the vehicle recall, owners should drive their vehicles with caution and contact the service center for repairs as soon as the recall begins.
