First Test of Redmi K70E Is the Debut Tianji 8300-Ultra Efficient?

In Redmi’s various product lines, the K series is positioned as the performance flagship. Each generation of K series flagships will be equipped with the latest flagship chip in the first place, bringing leading performance to more users. After the release of the Dimensity 8300 chip on November 21, Redmi also announced the first model in the “K70 Universe” series – the K70E – in the first place. It is equipped with the Dimensity 8300-Ultra jointly created by Redmi and MediaTek, also known as the “new generation performance flagship welder”. Its appearance will further raise the performance flagship standards for 2024.

The new Dimensity 8300 adopts TSMC’s second-generation 4nm process, based on Armv9 CPU architecture. The octa-core CPU includes one Cortex-A715 performance core with a frequency of 3.35GHz, three Cortex-A715 performance cores with a frequency of 3.2GHz, and four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores with a frequency of 2.2GHz. According to official data, the new Dimensity 8300 improves CPU peak performance by 20% and saves power consumption by 30% compared to the previous generation. In addition, the Dimensity 8300 is also equipped with a 6-core Mali-G615 GPU, which improves GPU peak performance by 60% and saves power consumption by 55% compared to the previous generation.

We later tested a model with Snapdragon 8+ using Antutu V10. The final score for this model was 1,368,237 points, with a CPU score of 372,562 and a GPU score of 493,681. In the same test environment, the Redmi K70E with the MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra scored a whopping 1.48 million points, with a CPU score of 316,559 and a GPU score of 554,886. Comparing the two, Snapdragon 8+ has a slight advantage in CPU performance, while the Dimensity 8300-Ultra has a significant advantage in GPU performance. Looking at the data, this mid-to-high-end Dimensity 8300-Ultra chip can definitely help the Redmi K70 series become the “new generation performance flagship sandwich maker”, because its performance is not at all like that of a mid-range device.

In order to explore the graphical performance of the hexa-core Mali-G615 GPU, we further tested the graphics performance of the Redmi K70E using 3DMark. After actual testing, the Redmi K70E scored 3034 points in the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme test, with an average frame rate of 18.17. Compared to the previous generation Dimensity 8200, which scored less than 2000 points in the same test, the Dimensity 8300-Ultra, which the Redmi K70E is equipped with, indeed has a significantly improved graphical performance.

The powerful performance of the Dimensity 8300-Ultra is also evident in gaming. When we ran the high-quality, high-frame-rate game “King of Glory” on the Redmi K70E, the frame rate easily reached 120 frames throughout the entire game, and the overall fluctuation of the game was not significant, providing a smooth and seamless experience.

After a long session of playing “King of Glory,” the Redmi K70E’s body temperature remained well controlled, with only a slight warmth when touched. The heat is concentrated in the upper rear area, confirming that the Dimensity 8300-Ultra built into the Redmi K70E is located in this area.

It is worth mentioning that during the Dimensity 8300 launch event, the official emphasized the AI-equipped Rampage Engine 3.0. With the support of AI, the Dimensity 8300 delivers stronger performance and lower power consumption during gaming, meeting the demands of gamers for long gaming sessions. After playing a game of “King of Glory,” the Redmi K70E’s battery level dropped by 5%, which is roughly equivalent to being able to play 20 games in a row. Even if you are a heavy gamer who always has your phone in hand, the Redmi K70E can provide longer usage time.

“First-chip” can indeed attract more attention. However, having a good experience is not as simple as “buying and installing” a leading chip. It requires continuous exploration and deep understanding of user needs to fully unleash the power of the chip.

In the previous Redmi K60 Extreme Edition, Redmi used the Dimensity 9200+ to give the device top-level performance in the Android camp. Through this model, we learned that Redmi has a deep understanding of the Dimensity chip, which gives us confidence in the first MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra in the K70E.

Additionally, the Redmi K70E is also a cost-effective model with Hyper OS, including features like Xiao Ai large models, AI image recognition, and AI text recognition, all of which are based on AI technology. With the support of MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra, the Redmi K70E can not only continue to be the “new generation of performance flagship”, but also allow more people to enjoy leading AI experiences through this cost-effective model.
