BYD Dolphin Takes Home Car of the Year 2024 Award, Making Waves in the Brazilian Market!

【PhoneAuto News】According to BYD’s official introduction, the BYD Dolphin recently won the “2024 Car of the Year Award” from Brazil’s professional automotive magazine, “AutoEsporte.” This is the first time that an energy-efficient vehicle has won Brazil’s most important and prestigious award, marking a milestone. Since its launch in Brazil in June this year, the BYD Dolphin has been favored by consumers and the media, continuously breaking local sales records and becoming one of the best-selling electric vehicle models in the country.

“AutoEsporte” established the “Car of the Year Award” in 1966 and is one of Brazil’s most influential automotive awards. The judging panel consists of media representatives and experts from the automotive industry who select the best models of the year by considering various aspects such as design, safety, price, and technology.

Li Tie, General Manager of BYD Brazil, said, “We are honored to receive such an important and prestigious award. This signifies that the BYD Dolphin’s excellent quality, innovative design, and advanced technology have reshaped the concept of electric vehicles in Brazil.”

Li Tie, General Manager of BYD Brazil, also became the “Executive of the Year” selected by “AutoEsporte” magazine, becoming the first Chinese person to receive this award in history.

Since BYD entered Brazil in 2014, Li Tie has been responsible for BYD Brazil’s business. In addition to achieving impressive sales in 2023, BYD also announced an investment of 3 billion reais (equivalent to 4.5 billion yuan) to establish a large-scale production base complex consisting of three factories in Kamazari City. This includes BYD’s first new energy passenger vehicle production factory outside of Asia, with production lines covering pure electric and plug-in hybrid models. It is expected to start production at the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025, with an annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles.

“I am delighted to receive this honor. BYD is committed to reducing carbon emissions in Brazil and supporting the development of the country’s new energy vehicle industry through significant research and development investment,” said Li Tie.
