Android 14 stable version will be delayed until October 4th, released together with Pixel 8
Android 14 stable version delayed, releasing on October 4th with Pixel 8
【Phoneauto News】Android 14 has been in the testing phase for several months now. Initially, it was said that the final stable version would be released sometime in August, just like Android 13 last year. However, that is not the case because more beta versions were added to the release cycle, and now almost everyone believes that the stable version will be released in September.
Following this pattern, September 4th is Labor Day in the United States, which means Google software updates should be released on September 5th (US time) (Google usually updates software on the first Monday of every month unless it’s a US holiday, like this time, in which case they are postponed to the next day). But things are not that simple. There are rumors now that Google has postponed the stable version of Android 14 to October at the last minute.
There are reports that Android 14 is expected to be released on October 4th, which is also the date of Google’s next major hardware release. It is expected that Google will fully launch Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel Watch 2 at that time. The simultaneous release of Google Pixel 8 series and Android 14 is unprecedented. Google’s new version usually comes out at least a month (if not two months) before the release of new hardware.

It is currently unclear why there is this delay, but the progress of Android 14 has been somewhat problematic for several weeks now. When Google hurriedly released an unexpected fifth beta version, some suspected that something went wrong. Now it seems that whatever the potential issue is, it has not been completely resolved (or fixed) yet.
Apparently, even phone manufacturers collaborating with Google thought that the stable version of Android 14 would be released today. As a result, some of them have even announced that they will release their own stable version of Android 14 later this month.
Of course, this is all speculation, and it cannot be determined whether Google will release Android 14 before October 4th.
