Forecasted Sales of Tesla in China to Surpass SAIC-GM-Wuling and BYD, Establishing a Prominent Market Position
【PhoneAuto News】Recently, PhoneAuto noticed that a research agency has released data and specific rankings of the active number of Chinese new energy vehicle manufacturers in September 2023.
According to the research data, the active number of leading Chinese new energy vehicle manufacturers has all seen an increase. Among them, BYD’s active number is in a significant lead, reaching 4.29 million vehicles, with a month-on-month growth rate of about 5.6%, ranking first in the market. SAIC-GM-Wuling and Tesla China follow closely with over a million active vehicles each, at 1.3452 million and 1.3292 million vehicles respectively, and their month-on-month growth rates are 2.9% and 3.1% respectively. In addition, GAC Aion has an active number of 744,200 vehicles, with a month-on-month growth rate of 6.0%, Changan Automobile has an active number of 544,800 vehicles, with a month-on-month growth rate of 4.5%, and Ideal has an active number of 495,000 vehicles, with a month-on-month growth rate of 7.8%. Among them, Ideal is the car manufacturer with the highest growth rate among the top ten ranked companies.

Meanwhile, in the third quarter of 2023, Tesla Model Y’s cumulative sales exceeded 116,000 vehicles, taking the first place; BYD Seagull, ranking second, had sales of 94,800 vehicles, with a quarter-on-quarter sales growth of over 2 times; the third to fifth places are all BYD models, namely BYD Qin PLUS DM-i, BYD Tang PLUS, and BYD Song PLUS DM-i, with sales of 81,800, 76,600, and 71,600 vehicles respectively. In addition, BYD’s Song Pro DM-i, ranking ninth, had sales of 58,600 vehicles.
