Nearly invincible! Apple’s iPhone dominates the global market with an astonishing 43% share in the third quarter.
Unstoppable Force Apple's iPhone Reigns Supreme with a Staggering 43% Slice of the Global Market in Q3
[Mobile China News] On November 8, according to research firm Counterpoint Research’s latest report, global smartphone market revenue in the third quarter of 2023 remained the same as the same period last year, but increased by 15% compared to the previous quarter, slightly exceeding $100 billion. It is worth noting that Apple’s market share reached 43% in this quarter, surpassing other mobile phone manufacturers and setting a new record. This achievement is due to the strong sales performance of Apple’s latest iPhone 15 series. Despite the fact that the iPhone 15 series had one week less sales time in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the previous generation models, Apple still achieved a record high market share in the global smartphone market in terms of revenue.
Additionally, Apple’s financial report for the fourth quarter of the 2023 fiscal year, released on November 2, showed that the company’s fourth quarter revenue reached $89.5 billion, a 1% decrease compared to the same period last year. Among them, net sales of iPhones in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year were $43.805 billion, a 3% increase from the same period last year’s $42.626 billion. Despite the overall slowdown in the global smartphone market, Apple’s iPhone business has maintained steady growth. However, looking at regional performance, Apple’s revenue in the Greater China region was not ideal. The fourth quarter revenue in the Greater China region was $15.08 billion, a 2.5% decrease compared to market expectations of $17.01 billion, nearly $2 billion lower than expected. According to Counterpoint Research’s report, the sales of the iPhone 15 series in China in the first 17 days after its launch decreased by 4.5% compared to the iPhone 14 series. Despite Apple’s continuous growth in global market share, competition pressure in the Chinese market remains significant.
