Bentley is recalling 3527 Bentayga vehicles in the United States due to fuel leakage that could cause a fire

【Phoneauto News】As a globally renowned luxury car brand, Bentley’s top priority is to provide users with a quiet and comfortable interior space. However, according to foreign media reports, some Bentley owners have previously reported smelling gasoline inside their cars. This has prompted Bentley to conduct an investigation and ultimately announce a recall plan.

This is the description of the image.

Recently, Bentley announced that it will recall 3,527 models of the Bentayga from 2017 to 2023 in the United States. In certain situations, the fuel pump control module’s current requirements exceed the design capacity of the fuel supply module’s wires and connectors. If this situation persists for a long time, the flange material may undergo thermal degradation and melt, resulting in a small fuel leak at the top of the fuel tank. In the presence of an ignition source, this increases the risk of vehicle fires. Fortunately, Bentley has not received any reports of vehicle fires caused by this issue.

Bentley stated that after discovering the related problem, they have redesigned a retrofit kit with improved flange design. This kit uses larger-sized wires and connectors to prevent this issue from recurring. In June, the automaker changed the design of the fuel supply module, which means that vehicles produced afterwards will no longer encounter the aforementioned problem.

Bentley plans to initiate the recall on September 29th and will notify affected owners to bring their Bentayga to authorized dealerships. There, technicians will replace the affected parts to prevent the recurrence of oil leakage caused by overheating.

In July of this year, Bentley also announced a recall of 888 imported Bentayga vehicles produced between February 18th, 2022 and October 22nd, 2022 in China. These vehicles were improperly assembled during the production process, causing the rear seats to not be correctly locked into the seat rails. In the event of a collision, the rear seats may move or deform, increasing the risk of injury to occupants and posing a safety hazard.
