【Mobile China News】On November 28th, Phone China learned that well-known analyst Guo Mingqi said that Huawei is expected to launch a new flagship model, the P70 series, in 1H24, including the P70, P70 Pro, and Pro Art. Largan Precision and Sunny Optical Technology are the high-end lens suppliers for the P70 series (with the former having a slightly higher supply ratio), and are expected to significantly benefit from the significant growth in shipments of the P70 series during the off-season.

Guo Mingqi pointed out that due to the upgrade in camera specifications and the adoption of self-developed Kirin chips, the shipment volume of the P70 series will experience significant growth in 2024 (compared to 4-5 million units for the P60 series in 2023). If the current strong demand for replenishing smartphone inventory can sustain until 1H24, the shipment volume of the P70 series in 2024 is expected to grow strongly by approximately 230% YoY to 13-15 million units. Even if the demand for inventory replenishment slows down in 1H24, the shipment volume of the P70 series is still expected to grow significantly by 150% YoY to 10-12 million units.

In addition, the upgrade in camera specifications for the Huawei P70 series is also a major highlight. Guo Mingqi stated that the series adopts a telephoto periscope lens, with the P70 featuring a 5P lens (1/3.6 inch), while the P70 Pro and P70 Art both feature 6P lenses (1/2.5 inch). Especially the wide-angle camera of the P70 Art uses a high-spec 1/1 inch CIS and 1G6P glass-plastic hybrid lens, which is considered top-notch in the industry in terms of its high specifications. According to Guo Mingqi, this 1G6P lens has a unit price approximately 4-5 times higher than a 7P lens, and this significantly drives the profits of Largan Precision and Sunny Optical.
