As it is manufactured in India, consumers expected the price of the iPhone 15 to be lower, but in reality, the Indian-made Apple phones are even more expensive. Apple stores in Mumbai and Delhi have started taking pre-orders for the Indian-made iPhone 15 to be released on September 22nd, but some customers have already expressed that they will never purchase it.

According to India’s “Business Today” report, the Indian-made iPhone 15 is more expensive in India than in the United States and Dubai. The Indian-made iPhone 15 is priced at 79,900 rupees (approximately 7,032 yuan), while the same model in the United States is priced at only 66,000 rupees (approximately 5,809 yuan), and in Dubai it is priced at 77,000 rupees (approximately 6,777 yuan).

The report stated that Indian buyers who want to purchase the iPhone 15 Pro Max can even fly to Dubai to buy it, which would save them 24,000 rupees (approximately 2,112 yuan).

Global pricing for the iPhone 15 series

In terms of pricing, Apple did not significantly increase the price of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus in India, but the prices of the Pro and Pro Max models are much higher than in other places. Tarun Pathak, Research Director at market research firm Counterpoint, said that the higher pricing is because although these iPhones are assembled in India, most of the high-value components are still imported and subject to import taxes. In addition, the weak rupee has also made iPhones expensive in India.

In India, the starting prices of the four models in the iPhone 15 series are 79,900 Indian rupees, 89,900 Indian rupees, 134,900 Indian rupees, and 159,900 Indian rupees, which are equivalent to 7,000 yuan, 7,890 yuan, 11,850 yuan, and 14,000 yuan respectively.

For reference, the starting prices of the iPhone 15 series in China are 5,999 yuan, 6,999 yuan, 7,999 yuan, and 9,999 yuan respectively. In the United States, the starting prices are 799 US dollars, 899 US dollars, 999 US dollars, and 1,199 US dollars, which are equivalent to 5,850 yuan, 6,600 yuan, 7,300 yuan, and 8,780 yuan respectively.
