Li Nan's iPhone 15 firmware update fully resolves heating issue with no decrease in performance
【Mobile China News】This year, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has received the most attention from consumers due to its major upgrades. However, many users who have purchased this phone have complained about severe overheating, making it feel like they’ve been using it for three years. Apple has acknowledged this issue and recently pushed out the official iOS 17.0.3 update for iPhone, which resolves the problem of higher-than-expected operating temperatures.
So, how is the current user experience with the iPhone 15 Pro Max? On October 16th, former Meizu executive Li Nan posted on Weibo saying that the recent firmware update for the iPhone 15 Pro Max has completely resolved the overheating issue without any performance decrease. However, by now, the hype has died down, and those who care about this issue are probably few in number.

Since its release, the heating issue of the iPhone 15 series has been closely watched, even drawing ridicule as the “fire dragon fruit.” In the early morning of October 5th, Apple pushed out the official iOS 17.0.3 update for iPhone users. The update log states that it provides important bug fixes and security updates, while resolving the issue of higher-than-expected operating temperatures.
Prior to the official update, Li Nan had already upgraded to the iOS 17.1 beta version. He stated that the overheating issue when taking photos had indeed improved (he took 60 consecutive shots). After playing a game called “Benghuai Railway” and browsing Bilibili, there was hardly any heat at all. Only when he played “Benghuai Railway” at 120 frames per second did the temperature start to rise.
On October 8th, Li Nan tweeted again, stating that with the recent firmware updates, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has basically solved the heating issue while experiencing a slight improvement in performance. The strongest SOC on the surface, the most stable camera. In Li Nan’s latest Weibo post, he mentioned that the recent firmware update for the iPhone 15 Pro Max has completely solved the overheating problem without any performance decrease.
Despite this, Li Nan remarked that this should be the last flat-screen phone he uses. In the comment section, he revealed that he plans to switch to a foldable screen phone in the future.
