True Self GT5 Review Comprehensive Evolution in Performance Experience, Unparalleled

True Self GT5 Review Unparalleled Performance Evolution

【phoneauto Evaluation】Compared to the past few years, this year’s smartphone market has reached new heights, and few manufacturers can stand out in this intense competition. As a brand targeting young people, realme has also launched the realme GT5 on its fifth anniversary, bringing users an unparalleled flagship experience and further intensifying the competition in the price segment.

On August 28th, the realme GT5 was officially released. Not only does it bring “miracle glass” in terms of design, but it also excels in performance with the combination of the second-generation Snapdragon 8+ processor, up to 24GB RAM, 1TB storage, and the industry’s fastest 240W fast charging. It has become the only 240W direct-screen flagship in the industry, providing users with a more “fierce” choice. Next, let’s take a look at how the realme GT5 performs.

If the realme GT5 is considered romantic, then the “miracle glass” is definitely indispensable. This time, we see a futuristic design on the realme GT5, which not only looks good but also has a unique feel. The realme GT5 features an innovative borderless integrated DECO design, where the lens and the entire body are integrated as one. The appropriate curve gives it an excellent feel when held. When I first saw the realme GT5, I actually repeatedly touched the visual junction, but it is actually seamless. The visual impact it brings is very strong, and the improvement in texture is also quite obvious.

Why is it called “miracle glass” this time? Because creating it is a miracle, and the complexity of the process involved is unimaginable. It is understood that the realme GT5 went through 15 months of process debugging and over 60 redesigns before finally achieving four process innovations, resulting in a production cost nearly four times that of ordinary glass, and finally producing the current product.

In the camera section, the left side is a lens module composed of double rings, and the right side adopts a very heritage transparent design, which feels like an exploratory version. The interior includes NFC coils, Pro awakening halo system, motherboard positioning screws, and the second generation Snapdragon 8. When held in the hand, it feels very technological. This time, the awakening halo system has been upgraded to the Pro version, with 4 light strips and support for 26 custom colors. It also has breathing light effects in more scenes such as gaming, charging, message notification, and music playback. We can also set custom colors for 10 exclusive contacts, so when a call is made with the back facing up, we can know who is calling.

The one we obtained is the flowing silver mirage color. Just like its name, when the light shines on the body, it seems as if liquid metal is flowing on the curved glass surface. At the same time, the gradient effect between glossy and matte surfaces gives the whole device a strong sense of design.

On the front of the device, the realme GT5 is equipped with a 6.74-inch 144Hz ultra-frame light and shadow display, with narrow borders of only 1.46mm. It also eliminates the screen stand, making the front view very impressive. Of course, the quality of this screen is also outstanding, with a resolution of 1.5K, support for Pro-XDR high dynamic display, 2160Hz ultra-high-frequency dimming, and support for 4-level refresh rate adjustment within applications, providing a better hardware foundation for daily use and high frame rate gaming.

I believe many friends are looking forward to the performance of the realme GT5. We have also conducted relevant tests for everyone.

In the Antutu benchmark test, the realme GT 5 achieved a total score of 1,663,811 points, which can actually rank first in the Android smartphone performance list released by Antutu in July. In terms of specific sub-items, the realme GT 5 scored 435,498 points in CPU performance, 590,212 points in GPU performance, and 346,689 points in MEM performance, which is very impressive.

In the AndroBench storage test, the realme GT 5 achieved a sequential read speed of 3,503.89MB/s, a sequential write speed of 3,148.87MB/s, a random read speed of 449.55MB/s, and a random write speed of 571.74MB/s. This speed means that consumers can enjoy faster game loading speed and app installation speed when using the realme GT 5, and it operates in a “cheat” mode in daily use. The realme GT 5 is also equipped with the Turbo Memory technology, which can keep up to 76 apps running in the background, making the user experience smoother and more convenient.

In the frame rate test of the game “Honour of Kings”, the realme GT 5 can enable ultra-high frame rate and ultimate image quality, and the average global game frame rate can be maintained at 120.2 frames, which is very stable. While ensuring the image quality, the 120-frame mode makes the overall gaming experience smoother.

In the test of the game “League of Legends: Wild Rift”, the realme GT 5 can achieve an average frame rate of 143 frames, and it can still maintain a stable frame rate in complex team battles. Some users may be curious why my “League of Legends: Wild Rift” does not have a 144-frame mode. In fact, the realme GT 5 has pioneered the 144-frame mode, so it is even smoother in daily use. After a full circle of gaming experience, the realme GT 5 has exceeded my expectations. It is not an exaggeration to say that it is a game artifact that is very suitable for ranking up.

In order to bring a better gaming experience, the realme GT5 is also equipped with the super frame independent display chip X7, which supports up to 3 times frame insertion, with a frame insertion delay as low as 10ms, and can achieve super frame rates of up to 144 frames for 110 mainstream games. It also supports independent display-level game super resolution function, bringing the game image quality to 1.5K resolution.

The left side is for turning off super resolution, and the right side is for turning on super resolution.

From the screenshots of turning off and turning on the super resolution function above, it can be seen that the game super resolution function does play a role in improving the fineness of the picture. You can pay attention to the details and contours of the characters’ faces and the green plants behind them. There is actually a big difference between turning off and turning on.

In addition, the realme GT5 also features the world’s first geek performance panel. In the default preset mode, users can adjust the upper limit of the frequency of each core of the CPU. This is actually very interesting for some users who love to study. In the past, only after rooting could we do this, but now realme has directly opened the permission to all users, allowing the performance to be fully unleashed. Of course, it is recommended that you use a heat sink back clip when raising the CPU frequency, as this will yield better results.

We also did a simple test using “League of Legends: Wild Rift”. Firstly, from the curve of the CPU Clock, it can be seen that in the first half of the CPU frequency adjustment, the frequency of the large core remains relatively low. When the core of the large core is set to 3.2GHz from the geek performance panel, the curve shows significant fluctuations, indicating more active performance scheduling. From the table data exported from PerfDog, it can be seen that the frequency of the realme GT5’s X2 large core can reach a maximum of 2.96GHz, almost reaching the limit of the large core.

Thanks to the support of a large 24GB memory, the realme GT5 also has the world’s first game-exclusive memory. The 12GB version supports 2 games, the 16GB version supports 4 games, and the 24GB version supports 6 games. After joining the game-exclusive memory, the game can run in a separate memory space, achieving permanent preservation. Even if it is killed in the background, the system can preload the game. In addition, the game-exclusive memory also supports smartly updating game resources during idle time, so users don’t need to wait for download, decompression, and restart time, and can play with teammates instantly. In addition, the realme GT5 also supports background hang-up function. Each time it hangs up, it can run for 2 hours. For users who like to play simulation management and MMO games, it can be said to be able to multitask with one device. After using the game-exclusive space function for a few days, I feel that it is indeed useful.

Fast charging has always been the realme’s killer skill, and this time the 240W is no exception. The realme GT5 is equipped with 240W full-level instant charging technology, and the screen can play 50 APPs while charging, without compromising the charging speed. In addition, the realme GT5 is upgraded with the SUPERVOOC S full-link power management chip, with a discharge efficiency of 99.5%, and combined with a high-life battery, after 1600 complete charge and discharge cycles, the effective battery capacity is not less than 80%, allowing users to continue using it for a long time. This time, the realme GT5 also has a configuration option of 5240mAh battery + 150W flash charging, and supports UFCS fusion fast charging. I wonder if everyone prefers the combination of 240W+4600mAh or 150W+5240mAh?

We also tested the charging speed of the realme GT5 for everyone. We charged the realme GT5 from 1% battery to 100% battery, and recorded the battery level at different time points to create a charging curve. The time interval between each time point is 2 minutes. The charging conditions are: using the realme GT5’s original super fast charging head and data cable to charge in the screen-off state. The final test result shows that the realme GT5 took 11 minutes to charge from 1% to 100%, which is very fast. From the charging line chart, it can be seen that during the 11-minute charging process, the realme GT5’s charging power remained stable, and the body had a relatively obvious heating situation, but it did not affect the usage.

In terms of imaging, the realme GT5 is equipped with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 flagship main camera, with a sensor area of 1/1.56 inches. It supports full-pixel omni-directional focusing and SuperOIS optical image stabilization, and is equipped with a super-clear image quality engine that supports full-scene RAW domain and lossless calculation. With the ProXDR display technology of the realme GT5, the final sample photos can show excellent light and shadow texture.

Now let’s take a look at a set of sample photos taken by the realme GT5.

Take this set of outdoor sample photos as an example. In sunny weather with abundant sunlight, the realme GT5 performs very well, whether it is plants or the blue sky, the colors are very pleasing. And after shooting the photos, the ProXDR can show excellent light and shadow relationship. However, when shared, the displayed image will be different from that on the phone, losing the taste of light and shadow.

In addition, the realme GT5 also uses a bionic dual-eye natural portrait blurring algorithm, which brings DSLR-level portrait blurring effect. It also supports the function of adjusting the aperture after taking photos, bringing more post-processing space.

In addition to the flagship IMX890 imaging, the realme GT5 also brings an unparalleled experience, including its adoption of the industry’s most advanced tri-frequency GPS positioning system, achieving sub-meter-level navigation and lane-level positioning, making daily navigation more accurate. At the system level, realme UI 4.0 also brings the industry-exclusive dual app function, which allows all apps we use in daily life to be opened in dual mode. If you have two accounts for the game “King of Glory”, you can directly create a clone for the game, so you don’t need to switch accounts anymore. It can be said to be very convenient.

As the flagship masterpiece of the realme brand’s 5th anniversary, the realme GT5 once again demonstrates realme’s pursuit of perfection. The miracle glass represents the ultimate pursuit of design, turning the impossible into possible. The second-generation Snapdragon 8+ with a maximum of 24GB of RAM, 1TB of flash storage, and 240W fast charging represents the ultimate pursuit of performance, allowing players to enjoy a fast, accurate, and fierce gaming experience. Overall, the arrival of the realme GT5 has further intensified competition in the market segment, bringing unparalleled performance from different dimensions, especially in terms of performance, living up to the reputation of being the king of Android performance, while also providing users with a more ultimate experience.
