【Phoneauto News】On September 14th, Swiss luxury watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen launched two special edition Big Pilot’s Watches, paying tribute to the legendary G-Class SUV from Mercedes-Benz and its shared heritage of functionality and timelessness through a collaboration with AMG.

IWC Schaffhausen x AMG G63 Watch

The IWC Schaffhausen Big Pilot’s Watch AMG G63 features an 18K Armor Gold case and crown, with a diameter of 46.2mm, paired with a black dial and a black rubber strap with embedded microfiber. The black and gold dual-tone design is inspired by the exterior paint and interior of the recently released Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Grand Edition” model. Armor Gold is an innovative alloy that enhances the durability of gold, making it more resilient to external factors. The other collaboration watch is the first timepiece from IWC Schaffhausen to utilize a ceramic matrix composite (CMC), with a diameter of 46.5mm, designed in cooperation with the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Unlike traditional carbon fiber reinforced polymers, the fibers embedded in this composite material are ceramics, not polymers.

IWC Schaffhausen x AMG G63 Watch

It is reported that the small dials of the new watch mimic the classic headlights design of the G-Class model, surrounded by white rings. These black small dials feature a relief-like craftsmanship structure, inspired by the intake system design of Mercedes-AMG high-performance cars. On the back of the watch, through the sapphire transparent case back, one can fully appreciate the charm of the movement, adorned with the Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star emblem, reminiscent of the spare tire cover on the rear of the G-Class model, which is quite interesting.
