Apple doesn’t even save face? iPhone 15’s early price drop leads to a sharp decline in sales.
Apple Fails to Salvage Reputation? Sharp Decline in Sales Follows Early Price Drop for iPhone 15.
【Mobile China News】Recently, the latest report released by the well-known research organization Counterpoint showed that despite the highly anticipated release of the iPhone 15 series by Apple in the third quarter of this year, its market share in China has sharply declined. The report data shows that Apple’s market share in the Chinese smartphone market has dropped by more than 10%, reaching only 14.2%.
The report analysis believes that the main reason for the decline in iPhone sales is the early price reduction through distribution channels. In the early stages of the new product release, due to supply constraints, the sales volume of the iPhone 15 series did not meet expectations. The official subsequent price adjustments failed to salvage sales due to missing the timing. These series of factors have led to a significant decline in Apple’s market share in China. Additionally, analyst Samik Chatterjee from Morgan Stanley also pointed out in the latest report that the enthusiasm for purchasing the iPhone 15 series has started to decline. The report shows that the lead time for delivery of the iPhone 15 series has been decreasing for four consecutive weeks. Currently, the average delivery time for iPhone 15 is 1 day, iPhone 15 Pro is 15 days, and iPhone 15 Pro Max is 25 days, all of which are lower than the performance of the previous generation iPhone 14 series when it was launched last year.
For Apple, the importance of the Chinese market is evident. In the past few years, Apple has maintained a relatively high market share in the Chinese market. However, with intensified competition and changing consumer demands, Apple’s position in the Chinese market is facing severe challenges. In order to regain market share, Apple needs to make wiser decisions in future product strategies and market promotions.
