【Phoneauto News】On August 30th, BYD announced that the company’s sales of new energy vehicles reached 1.25 million units from January to June 2023, entering the top ten globally for the first time.

BYD’s production and sales report shows that its cumulative sales from January to June were approximately 1.256 million units, a year-on-year increase of 95.78%. Among them, the sales of pure electric passenger vehicles were approximately 617,000 units, and the sales of plug-in hybrid passenger vehicles were approximately 631,000 units. From January to July this year, BYD’s cumulative sales reached 1.5178 million units, accounting for 50.6% of the annual sales target.

The surge in sales of new energy vehicles has brought substantial income. Data shows that in the first half of the year, BYD’s revenue from automotive, automotive-related products, and other business reached approximately 208.824 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 91.11%, accounting for 80.28% of the total group revenue.

According to the mid-term performance report for 2023 released on the evening of August 28th, BYD achieved operating revenue of 260.124 billion yuan in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 72.72%, and a net profit of 10.954 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 204.68%. In addition, BYD’s automotive business gross profit margin reached 20.67% in the first half of the year, an increase of 4.36 percentage points compared to the same period last year, slightly higher than Tesla’s gross profit margin of 18.2% in the second quarter.

In terms of overseas markets, BYD achieved revenue of 64.41 billion yuan in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 92.94%, accounting for 24.76% of the total revenue, an increase of 2.59 percentage points. Currently, BYD passenger vehicles have entered 54 countries and regions including Japan, Germany, Australia, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates.

The sales of BYD’s new energy vehicles are still continuing to rise, and it is believed that entering the top three globally in the future is not a problem.
