Breaking News Huawei Confirms Testing of One-Inch IMX989 Sensor for P70 Imaging Advancements!

【Mobile China News】On December 8th, Mobile China noticed that a senior whistleblower revealed that Ju Factory (Huawei) is testing two image sensors, namely Sony IMX989 and Hawei OV50H.

Sony IMX989 is currently the hottest large sensor in the mobile phone market. It is also Sony’s largest mobile phone camera sensor to date, with a complete 1-inch large sensing area, bringing the sensing area of the main camera to a new height. This sensor itself has excellent quality but is relatively large in size. Huawei has never used this Sony IMX989 sensor on its phones before. This usage may help Huawei’s imaging capabilities to reach a new level.

Hawei OV50H adopts a 1.2μm pixel size with a resolution of 50 million pixels. The optical format size reaches 1/1.3 inch, supporting full resolution 30fps, 12.5MP mode 120fps, and 60fps HDR readout speed. OV50H supports DCG HDR and stagger HDR. The former supports on-chip synthesis and outputs 12-bit/14-bit RAW files. When DCG HDR and stagger HDR are enabled at the same time, it can achieve a dynamic range of over 100dB (12.5MP 30fps). Hawei OV50H is currently a popular choice in the market, although it is not as large as Sony IMX989 in size, its quality is also quite good.

It is worth mentioning that Huawei’s next flagship phone, the Huawei P70 series, is expected to be released in the first half of 2024. It is unclear whether Sony IMX989 and Hawei OV50H will appear in the P70 series.
