Porsche Taycan Turbo S OTA increases acceleration performance. Can it get any better?
Enhanced Acceleration Porsche Taycan Turbo S Over-the-Air Update Takes Performance to New Heights
【PhoneAuto News】As a globally renowned high-performance car manufacturer, Porsche has always been averse to making big changes. However, sometimes, small improvements behind the scenes can bring astonishing effects to cars, such as the fully electric Taycan Turbo S.
Porsche Taycan
As Porsche’s first modern electric car, the Taycan Turbo S is constantly evolving. And indeed, independent performance tests have proven this, showing that it can now reach its top speed one second faster than it could two years ago.
- Global electric vehicle sales hit a record high in November! The Chinese market grew by approximately 25%.
- New Lexus LC 500h Special Edition officially on sale, priced at 1.336 million yuan.

In the latest test, the Taycan Turbo S showcased improved acceleration performance. Throughout the process of reaching a top speed of 150 mph (241 km/h), the speed at various stages has been increased. External media conducted actual tests and found that it is faster than before at 90 mph (145 km/h), 120 mph (193 km/h), and a quarter-mile distance, taking 10.3 and 10.5 seconds, with speeds of 132 mph (212 km/h) and 130 mph (209 km/h), respectively. Interestingly, despite the overall performance improvement, the Taycan Turbo S has not shortened its 0-60 mph (96 km/h) acceleration time. The media suggests that the reason for this progress could be the “overboost” technology, which delivers excessive power to the electric motor within a short period of time.
Current Taycan Turbo S Acceleration Performance
Porsche knew about the capabilities of overboost when Taycan was initially introduced. However, they were also aware of the potential long-term risks of its extended use, which could damage the electric motor. Therefore, as a preventive measure, Porsche limited the duration of the overboost function to three seconds each time. With Porsche’s increased understanding of Taycan owners’ usage habits and the durability of the electric motor, the company has gained more confidence in its reliability. Consequently, Porsche has extended the duration of the overboost function from the initial three seconds to ten seconds.

This explains why the Taycan Turbo S is faster in all acceleration milestones except for 60 mph (96 km/h), as it accomplishes this goal in less than three seconds.
Nevertheless, Taycan owners will be delighted to discover that their cars are faster than they initially imagined. They just need to remember that these performance improvements can only be experienced in Sport Plus mode, under the conditions of a launch control start.
