【Mobile China News】 On November 3rd, Mobile China learned that TechInsights’ Senior Director of Wireless Smartphone Strategy, Sui Qian, pointed out that in Q3 2023, global smartphone shipments decreased by 0.3% year-on-year, to 296 million units. This is the ninth consecutive quarter of annual decline in smartphone sales. Samsung holds a 20% market share in the global smartphone market, ranking first. Apple ranks second with approximately 16% market share. Xiaomi, OPPO (including OnePlus), and Transsion are among the top five, followed by Vivo, Honor, Realme, Lenovo Motorola, and Huawei.
Specifically, Samsung’s global smartphone shipments reached 59.5 million units, with a market share of 20%, which is lower than the 22% from a year ago. Apple’s iPhone ranked second with 46.6 million units shipped globally, occupying nearly 16% market share. Shipments decreased by 4% year-on-year, slightly higher than TechInsights’ previous expectations.
Xiaomi maintained its position in third place, with global smartphone shipments totaling 41.5 million units in this quarter, a year-on-year growth of 3%, and a market share of 14%. OPPO (including OnePlus) had a shipment volume of 27.7 million units in Q3 2023, a decrease of 6% compared to the same period last year. OPPO had a shipment volume of 22.7 million units, a 12% decrease year-on-year, while OnePlus had a shipment volume of 5 million units, a 43% increase year-on-year. Transsion (including Tecno, Infinix, and itel) maintained the fifth position for two consecutive quarters.
