A+ flagship LCD screen blessing! Redmi Note 12T Pro Review

Redmi Note 12T Pro review A+ flagship LCD screen

【PhoneAuto Review】Since Xiaomi established the “Mi Charge High” strategy, Redmi, as a sub-brand of Xiaomi, has taken up the banner of “cost-effectiveness”. The digital series is an entry-level smartphone aimed at allowing more people to use durable and reliable smartphones; the K series is a performance flagship, representing Redmi’s ultimate technology; and the Note series, which is between these two, has stronger performance than the digital series and more affordable prices than the K series. Therefore, Lu Weibing also called the Note series the “Little King Kong” in the mobile phone industry.

Of course, the Note series also lives up to the title of “Little King Kong” and almost carries the bulk of Redmi’s smartphone shipments. The Note 11T Pro series launched last year, with its Dimensity 8100 chip and A+ flagship LCD screen, became the annual word-of-mouth LCD masterpiece and received high praise. Today, this model is still the first choice in its price range. The protagonist of this review, the Redmi Note 12T Pro, is its iterative product, which strengthens its performance while retaining the “excellent tradition” of its predecessor.

The chip mounted on the Redmi Note 12T Pro is the latest Dimensity 8200-Ultra recently released. This chip was jointly calibrated by Redmi and MediaTek. Compared with the Dimensity 8100 mounted on the previous generation Note 11T Pro, this chip has been upgraded to TSMC’s 4nm process, using a 1+3+4 architecture, and CPU’s highest frequency can reach 3.1GHz. After actual testing, it can easily break through 90W points in AnTuTu, and it can be said to be the most powerful performance among the Dimensity 8000 series chips currently.

In addition to this flagship-level chip, the Note 12T Pro also has full-blooded LPDDR5 memory with a speed of up to 6400Mbps and high-speed UFS 3.1 flash memory, supporting up to 12GB+512GB of large memory combination, truly a performance Little King Kong.

When it comes to performance, how can we ignore the gaming experience? In this article, the author selected two currently popular games, “King of Glory” and “Genshin Impact” for testing.

Firstly, for “King of Glory”, the frame rate was set to the highest, resolution to ultra-high, and overall image quality to high-definition (extreme image quality and high frame rate cannot be turned on at the same time), with anti-aliasing and water reflection effects enabled. The phone was set to performance mode, and the external environment was an outdoor temperature of up to 31 degrees Celsius without air conditioning indoors. In the end, in a gold-ranked qualifying match, the average frame rate of the phone was 118.2 FPS, and the frame rate remained basically stable throughout the game.

After finishing the test for “King of Glory”, the author continued to test the phone with “Genshin Impact”, with the image quality set to the highest and the frame rate set to 60. After 20 minutes of running and fighting monsters, the average frame rate displayed by the phone was 55.4 FPS. Although there were fluctuations during the entire process, the overall performance was still stable. This is already a very good performance for a non-flagship phone in the thousand-yuan price range.

In order to make the phone run efficiently and stably, the heat dissipation of the phone is a very important issue. After testing both games continuously, the author also measured the temperature on the back of the phone. The temperature at the lens module was the highest, but it was only 40.4 degrees Celsius. This is due to the three-dimensional heat dissipation system composed of the 2268mm liquid-cooled VC and flagship-level 7-layer graphite, which provides “logistics support” for the stable performance of the Note 12T Pro.

When evaluating the quality of a mobile phone, the performance of the screen is also very important. After all, the screen is the only way for users to interact with the phone. Lu Weibing called this Redmi Note 12T Pro the strongest performance LCD Little King Kong. Therefore, this phone is equipped with a 6.6-inch LCD screen.

The LCD screen of Note 12T Pro supports 144Hz and 7 gears of variable speed. It can automatically match the appropriate refresh rate according to different usage scenarios to ensure smooth use while reducing power consumption. At the same time, in terms of color performance, this model has a color depth of 10 bits, color accuracy data of ΔE≈0.44, JNCD≈0.36, and strong color restoration ability. It also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10, which is perfect for watching movies and TV shows.

In terms of eye protection, Redmi Note 12T Pro also provides up to ten eye protection guarantees from multiple scenarios. Firstly, there is hardware-level low blue light. Compared with conventional LCD screens, it can further reduce harmful blue light by 20%, and can also improve the problem of yellowish display caused by anti-blue light.

Secondly, Note 12T Pro supports full-range DC dimming to eliminate harmful screen flicker, supports true-color display, and the screen color temperature can automatically adjust according to the environment, making the user’s viewing experience more comfortable.

Finally, Note 12T Pro has a more comfortable automatic brightness strategy, such as classic eye protection, paper eye protection, sunrise and sunset mode, automatic period opening mode, sunlight screen and night light screen, etc.

As a little giant in the world of mobile phones, it’s natural to cover all bases. With mobile photography on the rise, Redmi Note 12T Pro brings us a three-camera solution with a 64-megapixel main camera (OV64B), 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and 2-megapixel macro lens.

During the few days of testing, the film filter in the Note 12T Pro camera caught my eye, producing photos with a high-quality texture. Below are some sample shots.

From the above samples, the imaging capabilities of Redmi Note 12T Pro are sufficient for the daily use of ordinary people. With three rear lenses performing their respective roles, users can capture the desired images at any time, and even when zoomed in 2X, many details can still be preserved.

In terms of appearance, Redmi Note 12T Pro offers three color options: carbon fiber black, misty white, and sunny sea blue. The one I have is the misty white version, which happens to be my favorite color. It can reflect a bright pearl-like white under light. In addition, the most obvious difference from the previous generation is the camera’s Deco, as Note 12T Pro has added a turbo decoration ring, further highlighting the machine’s super performance.

In other aspects, the machine has almost no significant changes compared to the previous generation 11T Pro. The classic small edge design is still there, and the metal luster border design makes the machine feel high-end. The 20.5: 9 body ratio allows users to have a good grip feeling, and coupled with a body thickness of less than 8.9mm and a body weight of 200g, it will not feel tired after holding it for a long time.

In terms of battery life, Redmi Note 12T Pro adopts the combination of the long-life version of 67W + 5080mAh large battery. The author tested it and found that it took 20 minutes to charge from shutdown to 47%, and it took 50 minutes to reach 100%. It basically belongs to the standard level of 67W fast charging, which is sufficient for emergency charging in daily use.

Regarding the actual performance of the battery, the author selected a more extreme scenario-running “King of Glory” with 10% remaining power. All settings were the same as when testing the phone’s performance. The Note 12T Pro persisted for 29.28 minutes, which is quite impressive. The phone shut down automatically two minutes after the start of the second game against the AI.

In other aspects, Redmi Note 12T Pro uses the combination of 1012+1216 stereo dual speakers, which can provide fuller sound effects whether playing games or watching videos. In addition, the X-axis linear motor, multi-function NFC, infrared remote control, WiFi 6, and 3.5mm headphone jack are all equipped.

Overall, Redmi Note 12T Pro has undergone a significant performance upgrade on the basis of the previous generation, continuing the previous generation’s diamond quality. It still uses the well-received A+ flagship LCD screen, which can release better performance while making the LCD enthusiasts ecstatic. It can be said that Note 12T Pro is the last glory of the LCD screen today.
