In previous years, the most significant updates to watchOS were mainly focused on new watch faces. However, the redesign of the UI in watchOS 10 is more significant, and even if you are an old user of Apple Watch, you need to familiarize yourself with the new system’s usage logic.

Along with the changes to the stacked small components, the activation method of “Control Center” has also been changed from the original bottom-up slide to “pressing the side button”, and the background switching has also been changed from pressing the side button to double-clicking the digital watch crown.

Especially for users who prefer simple dials, high-frequency information such as weather and exercise levels does not need to be frequently switched between different apps to view, which will greatly improve efficiency.

In watchOS 10, “mental health” has also become a key part of the health category. It originated from the previous “meditation mindfulness” and, through more detailed functions, presents its own mental health status in a dataized form.

In “mental health”, we can see a module called “mood”. Here, users can record their daily mood and temporary emotions and see which factors are affecting their mental state. After clicking on the record, you can choose “daily emotions” or “instant emotions” and record your true emotions on your phone.

Use Apple Watch to record your own emotions

From actual experience, the emotional recording coverage of watchOS 10 is quite extensive. Negative emotions such as anxiety caused by work and disappointment caused by money, as well as positive emotions such as excitement during dates and relief after completing tasks, can all be recorded. In addition, watchOS 10 also sets different animations based on different psychological states. For example, the animation for positive emotions is a round and plump flower, while negative emotions are somewhat sharp and look like a “spiky sea urchin”.

Of course, Apple Watch not only plays the role of “recording emotions”, but also hopes to use data to identify which experiences may affect your emotions or moods. In the latest watchOS 10, the “time under sunlight” function has been added. This function uses the ambient light sensor inside the watch to record the time under outdoor sunlight, thereby helping us relieve stress. Moreover, this function covers a wide range of users, including the second-generation Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch Series 6 and subsequent models, and Apple Watch Ultra.
