Xiaomi's new self-developed operating system exposed, Android to support eSIM transmission

【Phoneauto Morning News】According to digital bloggers, Xiaomi’s self-developed operating system is a fully self-developed system that is compatible with AOSP (Android Open Source Project). Google is developing a new feature that will allow Android users to seamlessly transfer eSIM between Android phones using QR codes. Acer has released two new thousand-yuan level tablets in the Indian market, named One 10 and One 8. Apple has indeed switched to the USB-C interface on the iPhone 15 series. It will also come with a colorful USB-C data cable.

According to digital bloggers, Xiaomi’s self-developed operating system is a fully self-developed system that is compatible with AOSP (Android Open Source Project). It seems that Xiaomi’s self-developed operating system may also have terminal systems such as car infotainment systems, tablets, and smartwatches. Xiaomi is following the path of Huawei’s HarmonyOS, first ensuring compatibility with Android to safeguard its existing user base.

However, based on what was learned at the previous Huawei Developer Conference, a pure HarmonyOS mobile system will definitely be released in the future, completely decoupling from Google. It is understood that at the Huawei Developer Conference, a Huawei Mate40 Pro with the “HarmonyOS NEXT Developer Preview” appeared on the exhibition stand. This version directly deletes the AOSP code of the Linux kernel, helping the system reduce 40% of redundant code. This also means that HarmonyOS will no longer be compatible with Android software.

According to foreign media reports, Google is developing a new feature that will allow Android users to seamlessly transfer eSIM between Android phones using QR codes. Google hopes to make eSIM transfer as simple as sharing pictures. In fact, the company announced this feature at this year’s Barcelona MWC, and future new versions of Android 14 may support this feature.

Twitter user AssembleDebug discovered that the latest beta version of Android 14 seems to have a QR code-based eSIM transfer feature. This option can be used when setting up a new phone to ensure seamless connectivity from one Android system to another. However, the developers say that this feature is currently not available. It appears that Google is still working on this project, but it is expected to be first implemented on the Pixel 8 series and then widely promoted on all other Android 14 devices.

Compared to simply transferring a SIM card, transferring eSIM across devices is still a longer process. Users who frequently change devices or travel abroad find it difficult to change SIM cards in a short period of time. The eSIM transfer feature in Android 14 will greatly promote the popularization of eSIM technology.

Acer has released two new affordable tablets in the Indian market, named One 10 and One 8. These are two budget-friendly tablets that can meet users’ needs for performance and portability.

Acer One 10 tablet

The Acer One 10 tablet features a 10.1-inch WUXGA (1920*1200) IPS Incell display, while the One 8 tablet has a more compact 8.7-inch WXGA (1280*800)+ IPS display. Both devices run on the Android 12 operating system and are equipped with the MediaTek MT8768 octa-core processor. The One 10 tablet comes with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM (optional 6GB RAM) and 64GB of storage. On the other hand, the One 8 tablet offers 3GB LPDDR4 RAM (optional 4GB RAM). With the microSD card slot, users can further expand the storage space up to 1TB.

Informant Majin Bu shared images of the USB-C data cable for the iPhone 15 series. These data cables come in vibrant colors, including pink, black, and light blue-gray. However, the source of these images has not been confirmed, so their authenticity cannot be determined.

At the same time, another whistleblower Kosutami also shared a picture of the USB-C data cable, which comes in five different colors to choose from, including black, yellow, pink, blue, and purple. From the color palette, it looks very much like Apple, and these colors may also match the iPhone 15 models.

Apple has always had a knack for color schemes, offering a range of choices and tones, which is evident not only in iPhones but also in iMacs and iPads. Therefore, it is not surprising that Apple would provide a range of colorful data cables for the iPhone 15 series. In addition, these leaks further confirm that the iPhone 15 series will adopt the USB-C interface, which is a significant move for Apple and also good news for iPhone users.
