【PhoneAuto News】Compared to domestic Android phones that often have fast charging of hundreds of watts, the charging speed of Apple’s iPhone series can be considered a significant drawback. However, with the transition to the USB-C charging port, the charging speed of the iPhone 15 can become faster.

9to5Mac reports that it has heard from industry sources that “at least some” models of the iPhone 15 can charge at a higher wattage of 35W. Currently, the maximum charging speed for the iPhone 14 Pro series is limited to 27W, while the regular iPhone 14 only has 20W. It would take about two hours to fully charge the iPhone 14 Pro Max at these speeds.

Apple no longer sells the classic 5V1A power adapter for the iPhone, but the company now recommends using a 20W charger for fast charging purposes. If the iPhone 15 models support charging up to 35W, Apple may start recommending its 30W MacBook Air charger or a 35W Dual USB-C charger for maximum charging speed.

Earlier this year, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the iPhone 15 series, due to the transition of the charging port to USB-C, will support faster charging speeds. He said that MFi-certified USB-C chargers (including the 20W power adapter) can provide faster speeds. However, there are also rumors that Apple will limit the faster charging speeds of MFi-certified cables and chargers, and may also reserve higher charging speeds for the iPhone 15 Pro model.

According to previous leaks, besides possibly having faster charging speeds, the iPhone 15 Pro series will also have thinner screen bezels, a more powerful A17 chip, and a lighter titanium alloy frame. This could mean that the configuration and price difference between the iPhone 15 Pro series models and the regular version will further widen.
