【Phoneauto News】On August 18th, Apple CEO Tim Cook posted on Weibo to celebrate Apple’s 30th anniversary in China. Cook expressed his heartfelt thanks to all colleagues, customers, and partners on this occasion.

In 1993, Apple Computer Company established its Beijing office, marking its official entry into China. “For 30 years, we have been proud to serve the local people,” Cook said. “We will continue to contribute our efforts to enrich the lives of Chinese customers, help them establish connections, and fully unleash their creative potential, and strive to make the world a better place.”

The first Apple retail store in China was opened in Sanlitun, Beijing in 2008. Currently, Apple has expanded its retail store network and online business throughout the country. Since its launch in 2008, the App Store has brought more opportunities to developers and created millions of job positions in the iOS app economy in China. According to a study by economists from Analysis Group, the total revenue and sales of the App Store ecosystem in China is expected to reach nearly 4 trillion yuan by 2022. Between 2019 and 2022, the scale of the Chinese App Store ecosystem doubled, with a 59% growth in revenue for small developers from 2020 to 2022. In addition, 23% of new developers and entrepreneurs joining the App Store in 2022 are from China.

Currently, Apple has 55 retail stores in Greater China, including cities such as Shanghai, Chongqing, Fuzhou, Chengdu, and Tianjin. The Apple Shenzhen MixC retail store is the newest addition.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary in China, Apple will be hosting a special Today at Apple session at the Apple Sanlitun store on August 18th. This was the first Apple Store retail store opened in China 15 years ago. The event will feature premieres of college student microfilms and music short videos, as well as live sharing and performances by music producers, singers, composers, and director Zhang Yadong.
