After the turbulence of the ‘Car Guru’, China Association of Automobile Manufacturers will collaborate to establish new energy vehicle evaluation standards.
China Association of Automobile Manufacturers to Establish New Standards for Evaluating New Energy Vehicles after 'Car Guru' Turbulence
【PhoneAuto News】Recently, the winter range test results for new energy vehicles by DONGCHEDI have caused a lot of controversy. Huawei’s Executive Director, Yu Chengdong, Geely’s Vice Chairman, Yang Xueliang, and other companies such as Great Wall Motors and Tesla have all expressed doubts about the test standards.
However, PhoneAuto has recently noticed that, according to a report by the magazine “Car & Driver”, Dr. Wang Yao, the Assistant Secretary-General and Minister of the Technical Department of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said in an interview that the healthy development of the automotive industry requires the establishment of a scientific and standardized evaluation system for new energy vehicles. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers is working with industry companies and professional testing organizations to jointly develop evaluation standards for new energy vehicles and plans to publish them as association standards.
At the same time, Tesla also retweeted this interview article and said, “Our global engineering team conducts a large number of extremely rigorous cold weather tests every year to ensure product reliability. As mentioned by the association, testing conducted by the media outside of industry standards can mislead the public and consume public resources. Whether you are considering purchasing a Tesla or not, we sincerely invite you to come to our store and take a test drive. Your real experience is most important.”

It is worth mentioning that earlier, a blogger shared a screenshot claiming that DONGCHEDI’s winter range test had three different cooperation levels, with the lowest level costing 6 million yuan and the highest level costing 16 million yuan. However, not long ago, DONGCHE’s official spokesperson responded to this by saying: “Pure nonsense. In 2023, DONGCHEDI’s winter test is being conducted on 53 vehicles, none of which have any commercial cooperation, and no car manufacturer can interfere with or influence the testing results.”
