Meizu's satellite communication mobile phone seems to have obtained a certificate following Huawei's
【Phoneauto News】On September 22nd, Phoneauto noticed that according to information from relevant digital bloggers, Hubei Xingji Meizu Group Co., Ltd. has obtained the “Radio Transmission Equipment Model Approval Certificate”. The equipment model specified in the certificate is XGZ020Z, with a validity period until 2028. It is reported that this is suspected to be Meizu’s satellite communication certification. However, Meizu Technology has not officially announced any related news at present. Interested netizens can follow the official updates.
In the second half of 2022, Huawei released the Mate50 series models. In the Mate50 series, Huawei introduced new technology, bringing satellite messaging functionality. The company referred to this technology as “piercing the sky” in its earlier promotion, which caused quite a sensation. In 2023, Huawei further upgraded the satellite messaging functionality to satellite calling functionality in the Mate60 series. Unfortunately, apart from Huawei, there are currently no other mainstream smartphone manufacturers in the Chinese market that have released mobile phone products supporting satellite communication. Some related digital bloggers predict, “Similar products from other manufacturers will not be available within the next three years, and I’m not referring to a specific manufacturer, but all those present.”

It is worth mentioning that when Huawei recently released the Mate50 series, there were reports that Qualcomm, MediaTek, and some other upstream manufacturers in the mobile phone industry had already solved the technical issues, and satellite communication functionality would be popularized in flagship smartphones in 2023. However, this situation has not yet become a reality, but satellite communication functionality should still be one of the development directions for manufacturers.
