Subaru China recalls 2,496 imported vehicles, including Outback and Forester models.

【PhoneAuto News】On November 24th, Subaru (China) Co., Ltd. submitted a recall plan to the State Administration for Market Regulation, deciding to recall some imported CROSSTREK, Outback, and Forester series vehicles, involving a total of 2496 vehicles. This decision aims to address two potential safety hazards.

Firstly, the company will recall 24 imported CROSSTREK, Outback, and Forester series vehicles produced between September 6th and September 8th, 2023. These vehicles may have a decrease in driving force due to improper heat treatment of the outer seat ring of the front drive shaft universal joint. If this problem is not resolved in a timely manner, it may have an impact on the driving safety of the vehicles and even lead to accidents.

Secondly, Subaru (China) Co., Ltd. will also recall 2472 imported Outback series vehicles produced between February 10th, 2021, and June 30th, 2021. These vehicles have insufficient sealing of the gear inhibitor switch, which may result in the inability to start the vehicle or a malfunction of the reverse lights. This is also a major safety hazard for drivers, as it may prevent the vehicles from operating properly in situations requiring emergency start or reverse.

In response to these two issues, Subaru (China) Co., Ltd. stated that they will take proactive measures to resolve them. For the problem of improper heat treatment of the outer seat ring of the front drive shaft universal joint, the company will conduct free inspections and replace the relevant components to eliminate the safety hazards. As for the issue of insufficient sealing of the gear inhibitor switch, the company will also conduct inspections and repairs accordingly to ensure the safe use of the vehicles.

Subaru stated, “We always prioritize the safety of our customers, and we apologize for the potential issues this time and are determined to actively resolve them. We will notify customers of the recall and repair procedures through various means, including phone calls, text messages, emails, etc.” Meanwhile, users can also obtain detailed recall information through Subaru (China)’s official website or the service hotline.
