Jing Zhuanglong stated that China supports the construction of an open world economy and will fully remove restrictions on foreign investment access in the manufacturing industry, expand market access for digital products, and hope that Apple will continue to root in China, invest in China, further enhance the level of cooperation with China, actively participate in China’s new industrialization process, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
Cook said that Apple is willing to actively participate in China’s high-quality economic development, promote green manufacturing and smart manufacturing in China, constantly enrich the developer ecosystem, and support the growth of industry chain and supply chain partners.

News of Apple’s accelerated withdrawal from the Chinese supply chain has been constant this year. Influenced by the epidemic, many companies have decided to transfer part of their manufacturing operations to other countries. Apple is one of them, as it has invested heavily in India. Apple plans to turn India into the “world’s iPhone factory”. Previously, most of Apple’s suppliers were located in China, but the company has been seeking to reduce its dependence on Chinese suppliers in recent years.
Recently, Cook once again visited China, not only attending numerous business activities but also appearing at the Apple retail store in Sanlitun, taking intimate photos with customers. However, reports claim that Cook’s “intimate” gestures still cannot hide the fact that Apple’s production chain is determined to withdraw from China and relocate to Southeast Asia. Cook’s visit this time is only to stabilize Apple’s sales market in China.
According to foreign media reports, Apple’s production capacity layout in India has shown initial results in recent years. Data shows that the current shipment volume of phones from Indian factories has reached 25% of Apple’s total production capacity, and the growth rate is rapid. India is now an important partner for Apple, and the equally large consumer market in India can bring great returns to Apple.
Now, with Cook’s meeting with Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Jing Zhuanglong, it is unknown whether there will be any changes or what kind of changes it will bring.
