Foxconn, as one of Apple’s main suppliers, has already begun construction of its first-phase factory in Karnataka state, southern India. According to insiders, the factory is expected to start operating in April next year, with the goal of producing 20 million phones annually in the next two to three years, mainly iPhones. This number will increase India’s share in global iPhone production from less than 5% to around 25%.
