iPhone 16 series leaks The standard version will use the A17 chip and have 8GB of RAM
iPhone 16 series leaks standard version features A17 chip and 8GB RAM
【phoneauto News】The iPhone 15 series has just been released and is not yet officially on sale, but leaks about the iPhone 16 series have emerged. Recent leaked information shows that the iPhone 16 may undergo a memory upgrade and adopt a faster chip.
This information comes from MacRumors, which claims to have obtained an investor report written by Jeff Pu, an analyst at Hong Kong investment firm Haitong International Securities Technology. Pu’s notes indicate that next year’s iPhone will significantly increase its memory and transition to faster LPPDR5 memory.
Since the release of the iPhone 13, iPhone models have been equipped with 6GB of memory. The latest released iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are also the same. However, it is expected that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be equipped with 8GB of RAM, making them the first batch of iPhones with 8GB of memory. This means that 8GB of RAM and the Apple A17 Bionic chip will appear in next year’s standard models (iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus).

Pu also mentioned that the A17 and A18 Bionic chips in the iPhone 16 series next year will be manufactured using TSMC’s N3E process. The A17 Bionic in the iPhone 15 Pro series is Apple’s first SoC manufactured using a 3nm process, which can improve performance and efficiency compared to the 5nm process used by the existing A14, A15, and A16 chips.
Initially, Apple planned to use the N3B process on the A16 Bionic chip, but due to production and timing issues, it had to switch to N4. This issue may be resolved next year.
It is worth mentioning that these are all rumors and speculations for reference only. Apple’s development team usually starts developing new products 8-9 months before their release. The iPhone 16 is expected to be released in September 2024, and more details about the hardware changes of the new device may appear in January or February 2024.
