Xiaomi store dispute Woman refuses to admit breaking the prototype and injures store employee

Woman injures store employee in Xiaomi store dispute over broken prototype

【Phoneauto News】 On September 24th, Phoneauto noticed that a woman accidentally broke a sample phone while charging in a Xiaomi store and refused to admit it. She even injured the store employee’s arm. Mr. Zhang, the employee, stated that the phone’s frame was dented due to the fall and the repair fee was 360 yuan. However, the woman refused to admit the damage and claimed that she was being falsely accused and threatened to file a complaint. Mr. Zhang also mentioned that the police couldn’t handle such matters and advised them to resolve it privately.

This incident has raised public concern regarding consumer behavior and protection of the rights of businesses. On one hand, consumers should take responsibility for their actions. If they accidentally damage a product, they should compensate according to relevant regulations. On the other hand, businesses should also be treated fairly, and their rights should not be harmed due to unreasonable consumer behavior.

It is worth mentioning that Phoneauto has also noticed a similar incident. Previously, in a mobile phone store in Shapingba, Chongqing, Mr. Li, a resident, saw that his son had damaged a phone inside the store. He quickly denied any relation to the child, even claiming that they were only relatives. It was only when the police arrived to mediate that Mr. Li took responsibility for the compensation.

According to the report, the person who called the police was Ms. Wang, the store manager. She told the police that on that evening, a middle-aged man brought a 9-year-old child to pay for broadband fees. While the man was waiting in line to make the payment, the restless child was playing with the displayed phone samples. Unexpectedly, because the child was wearing gloves, he accidentally dropped the phone on the counter while taking pictures, causing damage to the phone’s casing. Ms. Wang said, “This phone is priced at 1,200 yuan, and it would cost several hundred yuan to replace the casing. We contacted the parent, but they claimed not to be the child’s father and refused to compensate. They even suspected that the phone was already broken. We had no choice but to call the police.”
