Arizona has the most severe road rage in America, while Delaware is the most polite

【Phoneauto News】Road rage is a serious problem that can lead to severe consequences. A new study aims to rank the 50 states in the United States from the most prone to road rage to the least prone to road rage. The results may surprise you, as they consider many factors that contribute to experiencing road rage.

Road rage is not just about people being in a bad mood or driving improperly. According to a new study by Forbes, there are at least five different main factors that contribute to road rage. They are traffic congestion, personal stress, rushing, already feeling angry, and feeling fatigued. To assess this, Forbes surveyed 10,000 licensed drivers (at least 200 per state) and weighted the different factors, such as whether the driver was forced off the road or if another driver got out of their vehicle to start a conflict. The scores were then compared and ranked by state.

The state with the highest severity of road rage is Arizona, scoring 100 points (out of 100). Rhode Island comes next with a score of 98.46, followed closely by West Virginia (97.82), Virginia (96.97), and Oklahoma (96.49). The most courteous state is Delaware (0 points), where the most serious offense is being verbally abused or threatened while driving. Idaho comes in second with a score of 1.76, followed by South Dakota (7.87), Louisiana (9.26), and Wyoming (9.31).

Most drivers experience road rage on city streets. They say that 29.18% of their road rage incidents occur there. They also stated that over a quarter (26.59%) of road rage incidents happen on highways. The occurrence in parking lots is slightly lower at 15%, and at intersections it is 12.36%. Rural roads rank fifth with a probability of 6.99%.

It is worth noting that in the past month, there has been an extreme case of road rage in the news in Arizona. In that incident, a driver of a Chrysler shot and injured another driver. The injured driver was taken to the hospital, while the driver responsible for the incident is still at large.
