At present, in the competition of AI algorithms and computing power for large models, in addition to Huawei, other domestic technology giants such as Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, and ByteDance have also entered the field. Just recently, vivo’s large model “Blue Heart” made its debut, including five self-developed large models with parameters ranging from one billion, ten billion, to one hundred billion. Among them, vivo has open-sourced the 7 billion parameter-level “Blue Heart” large model and its corresponding fine-tuning framework.

In addition to the Huawei Kirin series chips worth noting, Huawei’s Ascend 910B AI chip also performs exceptionally well and has recently received many orders from technology giants. According to reports, Baidu has ordered 1,600 Ascend 910B AI chips for 200 servers. By October, Huawei had delivered over 60% of the order to Baidu. Although the order volume is smaller compared to the thousands of chips previously ordered from NVIDIA, insiders say it is of significant importance. Tianfeng Securities commented that the Ascend 910B is a semi-upgraded version of the 910, with its performance comparable to NVIDIA A100. Previously, the Starfire all-in-one machine was the first commercial application of the 910B chip. Previous calculations showed that after NVIDIA’s restriction on upgrades, the market space for domestic AI chips would increase by over 70 billion RMB+ by 2024.

Huawei’s Ascend 910B has been upgraded to support FP32 single-precision calculation. The FP32 single-precision calculation power of Ascend 910B can reach 75T, supports HBM memory technology, and can be used for training large models. It has been adapted for Pan Gu, Llama, and self-developed large models at Tsinghua University, among others. Some analysts believe that although domestic AI chips have not yet reached the level of the highest international standards, they have already to some extent achieved the possibility of replacing overseas competitors.
