Chery Automobile recalls 16,640 Tiggo 8 PRO cars

【PhoneAuto News】Recently, Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the “Regulations on the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recalls” and the “Implementation Measures for the Regulations on the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recalls”. Starting from May 12, 2023, the company will recall a total of 16,640 Chery Tiggo 8 PRO vehicles produced from March 8, 2022 to August 18, 2022.

According to PhoneAuto, the vehicles within the scope of this recall have intermittent faults in the integrated brake control software. When the vehicle’s intelligent headlights are in the “auto” mode, and the driver frequently switches between high and low beams and brakes, the integrated brake controller may malfunction, causing the brakes to harden and posing a safety hazard in extreme cases.

Not long ago, Chery Group released its latest sales results. Data shows that in April 2023, Chery Group sold 126,713 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 128%, which is 2.5 times the industry’s average growth rate, and the monthly sales volume has exceeded 100,000 vehicles for 11 consecutive months.

In terms of brands, Chery sold 92,252 vehicles in April, a year-on-year increase of 120.3%, and sold 330,385 vehicles from January to April this year, a year-on-year increase of 54.4%. In April, Jetour sold 8,102 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 339.6%, and sold 24,368 vehicles cumulatively this year, a year-on-year increase of 98.7%; JETTA sold 19,005 vehicles in April, a year-on-year increase of 145.7%, and sold 70,953 vehicles from January to April, a year-on-year increase of 105.7%. In terms of specific models, the Tiggo 8, Tiggo 7 and Jetour X70, three models with monthly sales of over 10,000, contributed 15,037 units, 18,715 units and 11,834 units respectively in April.
