Liang Wendao's podcast, titled Accompanying You in Listening, focuses on culture salons and history
【PhoneAuto News】”Accompanying Your Listening” is an editorial column launched by Apple Podcasts for the first time in mainland China in July. Well-known writers, artists, producers, journalists, internet celebrities, and podcast creators will share the programs they are currently listening to through “Accompanying Your Listening” to help users discover exciting new content.
Liáng Wéndào, a senior media professional, writer, and host of the podcast “Liáng Wéndào · Eight Points”, brings us his podcast recommendations this time.
“Sound has no distance from us.” Liáng Wéndào, who has been engaged in the media industry for decades, believes that the casual and relaxed atmosphere of podcasting seems to bring the host and the audience closer emotionally. His modest and humorous speech has been widely welcomed by listeners, and he is affectionately called “Master Liáng” by everyone.

When it comes to recommended podcasts, Liáng Wéndào seems to have a special preference for cultural salons. Regarding the podcast “Left and Right”, which was awarded the Best Podcast of 2019 by Apple Podcasts, Liáng Wéndào’s impression is “the perfect encounter between media professionals and scholars, almost every episode is interesting and in-depth.” He also praised “Culture Limited” saying, “It’s not easy to make a book discussion program, but these three readers have excellent chemistry and have accurately found a way to connect with the audience.” This podcast is also listed as one of Apple Podcasts’ 2022 curated programs.
Historical podcasts are also Liáng Wéndào’s cup of tea. He recommends “Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History” to Apple Podcasts, saying, “It may take half a year to release one episode, but each episode can be as long as 5 hours. This long-standing history podcast indeed has a unique narrative power.”
During his travels, Liang Wendao often listens to the literary podcast “New Books Network”: “When I can’t read, it allows me to have some understanding of the academic trends in the English-speaking world.” Another historical interview podcast called “Travels Through Time” also coincidentally intersects with travel in a delightful way: “What’s interesting is that they actually have a travel agency that promotes going back to historical sites.”
In addition, Liang Wendao’s own podcast “Liang Wendao · Eight Points” is also outstanding and was selected as one of Apple’s Best Podcasts of 2020.
