NIO's Third-Generation-Based MPV Model Set to Launch, But Not for Some Time Yet

【PhoneAuto News】Currently, both Ideal and Xiaopeng’s MPV models have been unveiled, but We Xiaoli is the only one keeping the MPV model of Weilai a mystery. However, according to PhoneAuto, Weilai will launch an MPV model based on the third-generation platform, but the new car will not arrive anytime soon.

Recently, a netizen who attended Weilai’s “User Face-to-Face” event reported seeing Weilai CEO Li Bin and other executives at Niuwu in Chongqing. According to the information gathered from this communication activity, the second-generation platform of Weilai will not have an MPV model, while the third-generation platform will have an MPV plan, but it won’t be soon. In other words, you won’t be able to see the Weilai MPV model in the near future. As always, Weilai’s product pace has been steady, so it’s expected that the MPV model will arrive later.

PhoneAuto learned that the netizen also disclosed that the cooperation between Weilai and Changan in Nio Power, to jointly build and use the Weilai battery swapping station platform, is a milestone event. Thanks to opening up the charging piles to other brands, the charging business has achieved break-even. As for the highly anticipated second brand of Weilai, Alps, the netizen stated that the new brand will separate from the main Weilai brand and have the freedom to develop its own products. Therefore, in terms of product strategy, Alps will focus on “making the type of vehicles that sell well; benchmarking against the models that sell well.”

According to previous reports, the Alps brand will release its first product in the second half of next year. Currently, the development work of the new car is progressing smoothly, and the second car is also under development. Li Bin emphasized that the development concept of the brand targeting the mass market is different from that of Weilai. It will strive for sales volume for each car, and there will not be many models. It will also focus more on the household market.
