Pregnant Woman Fined 80,000 Yuan for Maliciously Bidding 26.14 Million for Fancy Mobile Numbers, According to Court Report
[Mobile China News] Recently, a fancy mobile phone number with the last 6 digits as “999999” went on auction in the Jiangsu Zhenjiang Economic Development Zone Court. After 24 hours of bidding, it was sold for a sky-high price of 26.145892 million yuan. However, the buyer who won the auction did not make the payment and claimed that they “made a mistake”. Recently, Mobile China noticed that the court has announced the details of the malicious bidding for the phone number priced at 26.14 million.
The People’s Court of Zhenjiang Economic Development Zone stated: On November 7th, our court posted an auction notice on the Taobao Judicial Auction Platform, deciding to publicly auction the mobile phone number “18611999999” from 10 am on November 24th to 10 am on November 25th. The winning bidder should pay the remaining auction fee before December 3rd. The notice and important prompts on the auction page clearly stated: “For buyers who maliciously bid up prices and disrupt the judicial auction order, the People’s Court can impose fines or detention, and if it constitutes a crime, criminal responsibility will be pursued in accordance with the law.”

At 9:36 am on November 25th, Xiao bid and won the auction with the highest bid of over 26.14 million yuan, but failed to pay the remaining auction fee on time. On December 3rd, during the investigation and verification process at our court, Xiao clearly stated a refusal to pay the remaining auction fee. Xiao’s actions disrupted the judicial auction order. Considering Xiao’s current pregnancy, it is not appropriate to take judicial detention measures for now. Our court has decided to impose a fine of 80 thousand yuan on him. As for the phone number involved in the case, the court will reschedule a new auction in accordance with the law.
It is reported that according to Article 24 of the “Provisions of the Supreme People’s Court on Several Issues Concerning Judicial Auctions on the Internet by People’s Courts”, if the buyer regrets the purchase after the judicial online auction, the deposit paid will not be refunded.
