【PhoneAuto News】On May 15th, research firm Canalys released the ranking of key global smartphone manufacturers for the first quarter of 2023. From the list, Samsung ranks in the top two in many regions globally, with most regions ranking first, except for not being on the list in the Chinese market. Xiaomi and OPPO performed well in many global markets. Although Lenovo does not have much presence in China, it is still relatively popular in some overseas markets. Transsion, headquartered in Shenzhen, also performed well in multiple markets. Unfortunately, Huawei was not present in these lists.

In terms of global rankings, the shipment volume of global smartphones in the first quarter of 2023 decreased by 13% to 270 million units. Although the difference in shipment volume between the first quarter of 2022 and the first quarter of 2023 is still significant, the decline in demand has begun to stabilize. Thanks to the release of new products, Samsung regained the leading position, with a shipment volume of 60.3 million units. Apple ranked second with a shipment volume of 58 million units. Among the top five manufacturers, only Apple achieved year-on-year growth, gaining a market share of as high as 21%. Xiaomi defended its third place with a shipment volume of 30.5 million units, while OPPO and vivo ranked fourth and fifth with a shipment volume of 26.6 million and 20.9 million units, respectively, occupying 10% and 8% of the market share.

In the European market, Samsung’s market share in the first quarter of 2023 reached 32%, ranking first; Apple accounted for 24%, ranking second; and Xiaomi ranked third, with a market share of 19%. It is worth noting that the top three smartphone manufacturers have all shown a downward trend year-on-year. Transsion ranked fourth, with a market share of only 4%, but it achieved a year-on-year growth of 188%; Lenovo ranked fifth with a market share of 3%, achieving a year-on-year growth of 13%.

In Eastern Europe, the top five mobile phone manufacturers are Samsung, Xiaomi, Transsion, Apple, and Realme; in the Middle East and Africa, the top five mobile phone manufacturers are Samsung, Transsion, Xiaomi, Apple, and OPPO; in Latin America, the top five mobile phone manufacturers are Samsung, Lenovo, Xiaomi, Apple, and OPPO.

In China, one of the top five global markets, the top five smartphone manufacturers in terms of shipment volume in the first quarter of 2023 are Apple, OPPO, Vivo, Honor, and Xiaomi, with market shares of 20%, 19%, 17%, 14%, and 13%, respectively.

In India, one of the top five global markets, the top five smartphone manufacturers in terms of shipment volume in the first quarter of 2023 are Samsung, OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Realme. Xiaomi’s performance in China and India in the first quarter of this year was average.

In the United States, the top five manufacturers in terms of shipment volume are Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, Google, and TCL; in Indonesia, the top five mobile phone manufacturers are OPPO, Samsung, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Realme; in Brazil, the top five manufacturers are Samsung, Lenovo, Xiaomi, Apple, and Multilaser. Samsung and Lenovo account for over 70% of the market share.
