WeChat receives Sichuan earthquake early warnings Check how to operate

【PhoneAuto News】On May 12th, Tencent officially announced that they have cooperated with the Sichuan Earthquake Bureau and officially launched the official earthquake early warning platform of Sichuan Province. Currently, WeChat users can receive earthquake early warning information through the WeChat official account and mini-program “Sichuan Seismic Station” after subscribing to the relevant services. When an earthquake occurs, users can receive second-level earthquake early warning information services on their mobile phones. At the same time, based on the WeChat platform, other regions in China can also access earthquake early warning services in the future.

It is reported that the launch of WeChat earthquake early warning function is the first step in the strategic cooperation between the Sichuan Earthquake Bureau and Tencent. The two parties will further cooperate in earthquake early warning information release, comprehensive post-earthquake information services, and the application of natural disaster risk census data, etc. to explore a new model of information-based public services for earthquake disasters. In the future, Tencent will fully utilize the advantages of WeChat official account, video account, mini-program, search, enterprise WeChat, QQ and other products to provide the public with more comprehensive public services for pre-earthquake popular science, earthquake early warning and post-earthquake rescue.

Currently, WeChat is one of the most widely used mobile apps in China. According to Tencent’s official financial report data, as of the end of the fourth quarter of 2022, the monthly active users of WeChat and its overseas version WeChat were 1.313 billion, which is almost equivalent to the total population of China. Compared with the same period in 2021, it achieved an increase of about 3.5%, which is completely worthy of the title of “national app” in China.

At the same time, driven by growth in both chat and non-chat scenarios, the total usage time of WeChat is still growing rapidly. In 2022, the usage time of WeChat mini-programs was twice that of the same period in 2021, exceeding the usage time of Moments. The usage time of Video Accounts was three times that of the same period in 2021, exceeding the usage time of Moments.
