He said that the earphone, code-named “Eureka”, is thinner and lighter than Quest 2, abandoning plastic straps and instead using fabric straps. At the same time, the hardware of the Quest 3 headset has been upgraded, allowing users to see the real world around them. Gurman said that there are position tracking cameras, volume knobs, and lens adjustment wheels at the bottom edge of Quest 3. These are relatively large upgrades. It is reported that Quest 2 supports interpupillary distance (IPD) values between 56 and 70 mm, with three settings: narrow (IPD < 66 mm), medium (61 mm to 66 mm IPD), and wide (IPD > 66 mm).
