Recently, foreign media leaked that Samsung is currently developing multiple flagship image sensors, covering different levels from 50 million pixels to 440 million pixels.

It is reported that the four high-end sensors being developed by Samsung are the GN6 with 50 million pixels, the HP7 with 200 million pixels, and the HU1 with 320 million pixels and 440 million pixels, respectively. However, according to reports released by foreign media, these sensors are not used in Samsung’s own Galaxy S series phones, but are prepared for other customers.

Among these sensors, the most interesting one is the new 50 million pixel GN6 sensor, which uses a 1-inch large sensor with a pixel size of 1.6μm. This lens is likely to be a direct competitor to Sony’s 1-inch sensor IMX989. However, according to reports, due to the cost of the sensor, Samsung may not be the first to use this 1-inch sensor.
