SK Hynix mass produces world's largest 24GB LPDDR5X DRAM

【PhoneAuto News】According to PhoneAuto, on August 11th, SK Hynix announced that the company has started providing customers with 24GB package products of high-performance LPDDR5X1 (Low Power Double Data Rate 5 eXtended) DRAM (memory) for mobile products such as smartphones. SK Hynix also revealed that they successfully mass-produced LPDDR5X in November last year and this is the first time they have developed a mobile DRAM package with a capacity of 24GB and started supplying it.

Friends familiar with the mobile phone industry should know that the “customers” mentioned by SK Hynix refer to OnePlus. Recently, Li Jie, the president of OnePlus China, and the CTO of SK Hynix Greater China jointly announced that the world’s first 24GB RAM phone, OnePlus Ace 2 Pro, has officially entered mass production.

PhoneAuto has learned that in January this year, SK Hynix announced the successful development of the fastest mobile DRAM, LPDDR5T (Low Power Double Data Rate 5 Turbo).

After launching mobile DRAM LPDDR5X in November last year, SK Hynix developed the improved LPDDR5T just 2 months later. This product has a running speed 13% faster than existing products, reaching 9.6Gbps. In addition, SK Hynix also plans to mass-produce the 4th generation (1a) fine process products with a 10nm level from the second half of this year, and will also apply the “HKMG (High-K Metal Gate)” process to its new products. HKMG process is a new generation process that uses high-k gate dielectric on the insulating film inside the DRAM transistor to prevent leakage current and improve static capacity. Its characteristics are that it can improve memory speed and reduce power consumption.
