Entering a New Era 2023 Guangzhou Digital Technology Ecology Conference Heralds the Advancement of Digital Technology

【Mobile China News】The “2023 Digital Technology Ecological Conference,” jointly organized by the Guangdong Provincial Government and China Telecom, opened in Guangzhou from November 10th to 13th. With the theme “Renewing and Setting Sail with Digital Technology,” this conference aims to further implement a series of strategic arrangements made by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council to accelerate the construction of a strong network country and digital China. It seeks to harness the power of various industries, showcase new achievements in digital technology, explore new spaces for digital technology, construct a new ecological system for digital technology, and embark on a new future of digital technology. The conference released a series of technological innovations including the Tianyi Cloud Intelligence Computing Platform, Basic Large Model, Industry Large Model, Quantum Computing Cloud Platform, and the 5G Renewal Plan. It also established the China Telecom Mobile Payment Industry Alliance, launched the Satellite Mobile Communications Industry Development Plan, and unveiled the establishment of Tianyi VisionLink Technology Company. Wang Xi, member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Deputy Governor of the Provincial Government, and Li Bing, Deputy Secretary-General of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, attended the main forum of the conference and delivered speeches. Ke Ruiwen, Chairman of China Telecom, delivered the keynote speech, and Shao Guanglu, General Manager of China Telecom, made an important announcement. In addition, China Telecom’s AI digital person “Shushu” also appeared at the conference and served as the host.

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, quantum, and other digital technologies, accompanied by a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, it has led to an explosive growth in the demand for computing power and the emergence of new scenarios, new formats, and new models. Ke Ruiwen proposed three considerations in his keynote speech on the development of artificial intelligence era: firstly, the development of artificial intelligence places higher demands on cloud-network convergence, which will evolve and upgrade towards intelligence. At the same time, cloud-network convergence will further promote the accelerated development of artificial intelligence. Cloud-network convergence should bear the responsibility of computing power scheduling during the process of upgrading to an intelligent cloud. Secondly, digital applications are an urgent need for the development of economic and social digitization. Faced with the unique advantages of China’s large-scale market, it is necessary to promote digital applications with greater intensity, serve the digital transformation of the economy and society, and seize the current opportunity. Thirdly, promoting stronger and deeper open cooperation is the only way to promote the development of digital and intelligent transformation, which also requires comprehensive transformation of organizational mechanisms and processes within enterprises. Based on the above considerations, China Telecom will seize new strategic opportunities, strengthen technological innovation, consolidate the digital information infrastructure; accelerate innovative integration applications, empower the digital transformation of the economy and society; increase open cooperation, build a win-win ecosystem. It will also collaborate in technological innovation, business ecology, talent exchanges, and capital financing, to carry out open cooperation on a larger scale with greater intensity.

Shaoguanglu said that in the era of artificial intelligence, China Telecom actively explores the integration of “cloud, network, and intelligence” technology, and provides services for the intelligent upgrade of society through the model of “network + cloud computing + AI + applications”. This year, China Telecom further strengthens technological innovation, comprehensively layout strategic emerging businesses, and promotes the digital transformation of the whole society. At the event, China Telecom released several key achievements:

Achievement 1: Release of the Tianyi Cloud Intelligent Computing Platform. In response to the new requirements of the big model era for cloud service providers, Tianyi Cloud has been upgraded comprehensively, building a full-stack big model intelligent computing service, including the construction of the AIDC (Artificial Intelligence Data Center), the upgrade of the Cloud Intelligence Super Integrated Infrastructure Platform “Yunxiao”, and the launch of the one-stop intelligent computing service platform “Huiju”. This will create a big model ecosystem and form a cloud-intelligence integration intelligent computing service system. Based on the new infrastructure service platform “Yunxiao” and the intelligent computing service platform “Huiju”, Tianyi Cloud has provided various ecosystem mode support for big model developers, big model providers, application vendors, governments, scientific research institutions, industry associations, and other partners.

Achievement 2: Release of the Basic Big Model. The Xingchen big semantic model with a billion parameters focuses on improving the ability of graphic-text generation and graphic-text comprehension. It has trained more than 1.2 billion data in various styles, supporting nearly 20 painting styles. The Chinese image understanding and generation ability has improved by 30%, and the semantic fine-grained generation effect has improved by 25%. In terms of data, China Telecom has accumulated over 500TB of text data, 1.2 billion graphic-text data, and collects 2PB of video data daily. It continues to expand cooperation with public data and high-quality industry data and is the first operator to join the China Big Model Corpus Data Alliance. In Hainan, as the exclusive operator, China Telecom has assisted the municipal government in building a “data supermarket product,” facilitating the aggregation of 200 billion data resources and operating more than 0.5 billion transaction projects.

Achievement 3: Release of industry big models. Based on the current demand for big models in the market, the digital development process of various industries, and the maturity of big model technologies in the application side, China Telecom has released the first batch of 12 trial commercial big models and launched the “Xingchen MaaS (Model as a Service) Ecological Service Platform”. It provides three types of one-stop big model services: exclusive customized version, general industry version, and customer self-training version for different customers. China Telecom has also launched the “Intelligent Computing Power Vehicle,” which adopts the model of “basic computing power + lightweight version of Tianyi Cloud Yunxiao platform (Cloud Roar platform) + dedicated power supply vehicle.” This meets the data security management requirements of some customers and has completed customized training for customers in Xiong’an New Area and other places. In addition, based on in-depth technical research and industry insights, China Telecom has released the “White Paper on China Telecom’s Industry Big Model Technology”.

Result 4: Released Quantum Computing Cloud Platform. The “Tianyan” Quantum Computing Cloud Platform integrates the “Tianyi Cloud” supercomputing power and 176 superconducting qubit computing power, making it a fusion cloud platform with “quantum superiority” capability. This cloud platform is based on a super-hybrid cloud architecture, providing core capabilities such as quantum cloud operating system, quantum computing compilation, quantum computing simulation, and graphical programming. It achieves mixed scheduling of supercomputing and quantum computing in the cloud, accelerating the practical application of quantum computing in fields such as quantum chemistry research, new drug and new material development, and energy meteorological simulation.

China Telecom has also announced the 5G Renewal Plan and the new 5G logo, which replaces “Hello” with a “V”, reflecting China Telecom’s vision of transforming from being acquainted with peers to empowering value. The “V” represents vitality, velocity, vision, and most importantly, creating value through technology and achieving future success through empowerment. With the renewed 5G brand, China Telecom has launched a series of new 5G applications, including new communication, new connectivity, new computing power, new intelligence, new security, and new vision, which will further enhance communication and connectivity, improve computing power and security capabilities, realize AI intelligence, and innovate visual perception to meet customers’ expectations.

During the event, China Telecom Mobile Payment Industry Alliance was officially established. Representatives from 17 companies in the industry chain attended the alliance launch ceremony and signed agreements, aiming to achieve a revitalized and upgraded integrated development of mobile payments and build a new pattern of integrated development in the mobile payment industry.

China Telecom, together with the Hangzhou Municipal Government and China Electronics Technology Corporation, jointly unveiled the establishment of Tianyi Visual Union Technology Co., Ltd. With the advantages of China Telecom’s cloud-network integration, security intelligence, and ecosystem openness, Tianyi Visual Union has already surpassed 60 million device accesses. As a key aspect of China Telecom’s fifth fundamental network, the visual union industry application is becoming increasingly rich, entering a fast track of scale development. The establishment of the new company will further promote the leapfrog development of visual union network business.

To gather market momentum, stimulate innovation-driven growth, promote collaborative research and development, and foster open cooperation, China Telecom, together with 15 mobile terminal and automotive manufacturers, launched the Satellite Mobile Communication Industry Development Program during the main forum. This program aims to further explore the potential value in the satellite field, create differentiated competitive advantages, and promote the high-quality development of the aerospace information industry.

In addition to the main forum, this conference will also organize 16 sub-forums from the 9th to the 12th, focusing on topics such as technological innovation, industrial digitization, visual communication technology, artificial intelligence, satellite communication, smart operation, and green development. Experts, scholars, industry leaders, and associations will be invited to gather together to discuss the future development of digitization technology. The main forum and each sub-forum will be live-streamed throughout the event.

During the conference, China Telecom will also collaborate with partners to hold the 2023 Digital Technology Ecological Exhibition, showcasing the latest achievements of China Telecom and its ecological partners in cloud-network integration capabilities, new digital consumption, industrial digitization, intelligent electronics, and artificial intelligence models in a large exhibition hall covering an area of 60,000 square meters.

The exhibition also features an immersive metaverse pavilion, allowing more spectators to experience the infinite charm of digital technology. During the exhibition, the “China Telecom Digital New Consumption Festival” was held, featuring a series of promotional discounts, new product experiences, and interactive games to attract visitors to stay and experience.
