【Mobile China News】On November 1, 2023, the vivo Developer Conference ended successfully in Shenzhen, Guangdong. With the theme of “Together, Towards the Future,” the conference had a main venue and multiple sub-venues. Among them, at the information accessibility venue with the theme “With AI, No Barriers, Every Word Matters,” vivo’s Vice President, OS Product Vice President, and Director of the vivo AI Global Research Institute shared vivo’s technological achievements and future prospects in the field of accessibility. They also announced the official launch of the vivo “Every Word Matters” public welfare program for the third phase.
As a leading technology company, vivo has always been committed to ensuring that technological innovations benefit everyone, bridging the digital divide, and continuously advancing in auditory care, visual care, elderly care, and other aspects. Over the years, vivo has adhered to user-oriented innovation, deeply understanding user needs, overcoming technological difficulties in algorithms, computing power, data, and engineering, and creating a series of AI technology accessibility products that surprise users, providing visually impaired and hearing impaired users with more convenient, user-friendly, and thoughtful product experiences. In addition to the previously released accessibility features such as vivo TalkBack, Accessible Calling, Voice Recognition, and AI Subtitles, this year vivo has also launched several new high-impact accessibility products, such as the Sign Language Translator, vivo Vision, and vivo Music Sheet Reader.
In terms of hearing-impaired products, as the only mobile phone manufacturer in the world that supports Chinese sign language recognition, the Sign Language Translator integrates leading AI technology capabilities and can help hearing-impaired individuals establish connections with the outside world through sign language, enabling them to communicate more naturally and efficiently.

In terms of visually impaired products, vivo mainly introduced two major products: vivo Vision and vivo Music Sheet Reader. vivo Vision is the first product that supports GPT landing on the NPU platform, and its fine-grained effect in on-device image description reaches an industry-leading level. It can support visually impaired users to quickly obtain information about their surrounding environment, objects, and even the status of others in weak or even no network conditions, and use voice recognition and synthesis technology for description and broadcast. For visually impaired users who love and learn music, vivo has developed the vivo Music Sheet Reader, which allows them to listen to music and convert it into sheet music. This fills the gap in domestic mobile music sheet reading software and provides more possibilities for the interest development of visually impaired users.
In addition to launching several high-impact products, vivo has also deeply integrated accessibility products with its self-developed Lanxin Big Model into strategic planning. It will continue to enhance the AI capabilities of vivo Vision and is expected to officially release an upgraded version of vivo Vision with Lanxin in the first half of next year, bringing more intelligent experiences to users. This includes more intelligent environmental recognition, identification of items such as food instruction manuals and remote controls, and even intelligent recommendations for clothing matching. It will provide convenient experiences by connecting with Lanxin Big Model, allowing visually impaired users to experience the intelligent convenience brought by vivo’s self-developed Lanxin Big Model. At the conference, vivo’s Vice President, OS Product Vice President, and Director of the vivo AI Global Research Institute said: Every user’s ideas and demands are closely related to vivo. We are committed to allowing users to resonate with the world, every word matters, and let everyone enjoy the benefits of technological progress equally. We will continue to focus on the information accessibility track, giving users the wings to pursue their dreams!
