Mazda Partners with UK AI Firm Secondmind to Enhance Car Design and Development

【PhoneAuto News】According to reports, Mazda has invested $16 million in the UK technology company Secondmind to accelerate car design and development. The funds raised in this round of financing will be used to strengthen Secondmind’s sales and marketing, as well as to help accelerate the development of its cloud-based Secondmind optimization engine. In addition, it will also increase support for Mazda’s advanced AI research and education strategy, an area the two companies have been collaborating on for years.

“Due to the diversification of market demands and the increasing complexity and precision of technology, the automotive industry needs to further speed up development and efficiency,” said Naohito Saga, Mazda’s R&D director. “We look forward to working with Secondmind to bring further evolution to Mazda’s car manufacturing.”

“From day one, Secondmind and Mazda have been focused on a common goal: the continuous optimization of car design and performance, helping the automotive industry succeed in the era of software-defined cars,” said Gary Brotman, CEO of Secondmind. “We are honored to support Mazda in opening new pathways of AI innovation in automotive engineering through Mazda’s advanced AI research and education strategy.”

Secondmind claims that it can help shorten the development time of new cars from years to months, and reduce the number of errors in the design and testing stages by 10 times. This reduces the number of revisions and the amount of prototype cars by 40%, saving time and money in the development process of new cars, especially for electric vehicles.
