Xiaomi’s Wang Teng fires back at OnePlus’ Li Jie After ten years, we’re still a small sapling and definitely not a cactus.

Xiaomi's CEO Wang Teng responds to OnePlus' CEO Li Jie After a decade, we are still growing strong but we're no cactus.

[Mobile China News] On the afternoon of December 5th, OnePlus officially held a new product launch event in Shenzhen. In this launch event, OnePlus brought its latest flagship smartphone, OnePlus 12. And in the part where the price was announced at the end of the event, the President of OnePlus China, Li Jie, couldn’t help but take a swipe at the competitors on stage. Unexpectedly, right after the event, Xiaomi’s Wang Teng responded on his Weibo.

Wang Teng wrote: “Some brands have grown into towering trees in just ten years, while others are still small saplings. What causes this difference? Could these small saplings be cacti? Okay, enough said, the price of this K70Pro from our competitors will surely increase!” His statement was of course a response to Li Jie’s remarks at the event. There is no doubt that the former refers to Xiaomi, which just turned 11 years old this year, and the latter refers to OnePlus, which referred to itself as a small sapling at the event.

During the event, Li Jie stated that OnePlus’ products constantly surpass those of their competitors. They always say that OnePlus has a small market share, but who hasn’t grown from a small sapling into a towering tree? Although OnePlus currently has a small market share, its growth momentum is strong and has good development prospects. The newly launched OnePlus 12 not only has better specifications than Xiaomi 14, but it can even surpass Xiaomi 14 Pro. Li Jie said that the launch of OnePlus 12 still follows his previous views: similar product capabilities, OnePlus will always have more extreme pricing. Similar pricing, OnePlus will always have more leading product capabilities.

However, from the price point of view, the newly launched OnePlus 12 is indeed good. The entry-level 12GB+256GB version is priced at 4299 yuan, while the top-of-the-line 24GB+1TB version is priced at 5799 yuan, both lower than the Xiaomi 14 Pro.
