According to reports in German media, automotive expert Stefan Blaschke’s latest research predicts that China will become the world’s largest automotive exporter this year. The research report shows that in January to September of this year, Chinese manufacturers sold a total of 3.4 million vehicles to foreign countries. In comparison, Japanese manufacturers exported 3.2 million vehicles, while German manufacturers exported 2.4 million vehicles. Prior to this, China’s automotive exports had already surpassed Germany in 2022, and now it has surpassed another important automotive exporter, Japan.

Blaschke, from the German research institute Automotive Management Center, said, “The importance of China’s automotive exports continues to grow rapidly.” It is reported that this year’s data has increased by 60% compared to the same period last year, with 2.84 million of the 3.4 million vehicles being passenger cars, an increase of 67%.

According to the research, in the period from January to September of this year, Chinese manufacturers exported nearly 825,000 electric vehicles to foreign countries, including pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, more than double the same period last year. These vehicles accounted for 24% of China’s total automotive exports, close to one-fourth. The research also showed that the Chinese manufacturers with the highest exports this year were SAIC (760,000 vehicles) and Chery (648,000 vehicles), with American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla ranking third with 265,000 vehicles produced at its factory in Shanghai.
