Tesla Model Y could be the best-selling car in Europe this year! Defeating Dacia.

Tesla Model Y poised to outsell all other cars in Europe this year, surpassing Dacia.

[PhoneAuto News] Tesla Model Y is expected to become the best-selling car in Europe in 2023, as this electric SUV has been at the top of the charts for the first 10 months of this year.

According to data provided by Dataforce, the sales of Tesla Model Y from January to October this year far exceeded its competitor, the Dacia Sandero. In addition, Tesla’s sales are expected to increase significantly in the last two months, as this car manufacturer usually delivers a large number of vehicles at the end of quarters and years.

If this news becomes true, it will be the first time that an electric car tops the European sales chart for the entire calendar year.

According to preliminary data released by “European Automotive News” last week, as of now, the Sandero is leading the Model Y by about 289 vehicles. However, this data does not include 8% of the sales, which includes the crucial market of Sweden. As of October, the sales of Model Y in Sweden were 14,139 vehicles, while the Sandero only had 1,048 vehicles.

When the sales figures from Sweden and other markets are included, the lead advantage of Dacia disappears, and the sales of Model Y reach 212,517 vehicles, while the Sandero only reaches 197,482 vehicles. Model Y accounts for approximately 73% of the 291,404 vehicles sold by American car manufacturers in Europe.

Model Y has been the best-selling car in Europe for six consecutive months, while the Sandero took the first place in January, April, and October. In July, the Volkswagen T-Roc claimed the top position.

Earlier this year, Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that he expects Model Y to become the best-selling car globally, just as it did in the first quarter. Last month, Tesla delivered one million vehicles in Europe, setting a milestone.
