【Phoneauto News】Recently, Phoneauto noticed that Hyundai Motor Group announced that it is expected to achieve a cumulative car sales volume of 9 million units in the Indian market later this year.
Hyundai stated that by June 2023, the cumulative car sales volume of Hyundai Motor Group in the Indian market had already reached 8.69 million units, including 758,000 units from Kia Motors. Based on this trend, the cumulative sales volume of Hyundai and Kia in the Indian market is expected to exceed 9 million units in the fourth quarter of this year. At the same time, in the first half of 2023, the combined market share of Hyundai and Kia in the Indian market was 21.3%.
According to official data, in 2022, Hyundai Motor’s global sales volume was 3.94579 million units, a 1.4% increase compared to 2021; Kia Motors’ sales volume in 2022 was 2.903619 million units, a 4.6% increase compared to 2021. Overall, in 2022, the total car sales volume of Hyundai-Kia Group was 6.848198 million units, making it the world’s third-largest automaker after Toyota and Volkswagen.

It is worth mentioning that a significant portion of Hyundai-Kia’s car sales volume is not from the domestic market in South Korea, but from overseas markets. In 2022, Hyundai Motor’s car sales volume in markets outside of South Korea was around 3.25 million units, a year-on-year increase of 2.9%. In addition, in the first quarter of 2023, Kia Motors’ global sales volume reached 768,000 units, a 12% increase compared to the same period in 2022. Among them, Hyundai Motor’s car sales volume in overseas markets reached 626,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 11.1%, while the car sales volume in the domestic market of South Korea was 141,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 16.5%.
