Among the mainstream smartphone brands in China, including Samsung, Motorola, Huawei, Vivo, and OPPO, have all launched vertically folding screen phones. Xiaomi may also be developing such a product. The blogger did not mention the name of the device, but stated that Xiaomi is developing a vertically folding phone. He added that the device is very thin. In the comments section of this Weibo post, he revealed that the device is expected to be launched as early as 2024.

It is worth mentioning that there have been reports recently that Xiaomi may release a new folding screen phone, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3, in the third quarter of this year in China, with a planned launch in August.

According to previous leaks, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 is expected to be thinner and lighter than its predecessor. In addition, this foldable phone is expected to feature some new configurations, such as an under-screen camera, a periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, and a 50W wireless charging function that the previous generation model did not have. For reference, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ mobile platform, a 6.56-inch external screen and an 8.02-inch internal screen, both supporting a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz; and a rear triple camera, with the main camera using the Sony IMX766 sensor and supporting Leica’s native dual-camera technology. It is currently unclear whether Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 will be released in the global market.
